Re: Rules for 2020
Still waiting for the survey on the rule change for this season on game 163 +. When can we expect this? I heard it was due to be sent out to us right after Thanksgiving.

Create a twitter poll Mike, let us know how it ends up. Much quicker.Baseball Furies wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 7:45 pmStill waiting for the survey on the rule change for this season on game 163 +. When can we expect this? I heard it was due to be sent out to us right after Thanksgiving.

Maybe you read this incorrectly MTM.Greg Ambrosius wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 8:56 amNot until after the New Year. Now is not the time for a baseball survey and the rule in question isn't going to affect drafts at all.

Re: Rules for 2020
Greg - I’ve heard from many owners indicating they prefer to keep the existing rules. Surveys have their pitfalls, and I would suggest it will prove to be a waste of time.
It would be VERY entertaining to see a team I am associated with move ahead of MTM’s team in the standings via game 163. That alone is worth keeping the rules the same

Re: Rules for 2020
I get the desire to see these results, but Mike the survey will take one day to put out and less than 7 days to get good results, so let's send this out when more players are in baseball mode. Whichever way we go with this updated rule it won't have any effect on people drafting today because NOBODY knows who is playing in Game 163.
Yes, I said after the New Year, but I think the majority of our players will be attentive to a baseball survey in February and that's when I plan to send it out. Getting as many responses as possible is important to doing this or any survey and I believe February makes more sense for this question.
Hope that's okay with everyone.

That’s fine with me. Re: Rules for 2020
Sometimes that game 162 isn’t the game Sunday at the end of the season that gets rained out. Sometimes it’s a rainout/snowout from April that wasn’t made up and only played if the outcome affects the final standings.
It could involve two playoff teams or perhaps just one team that gets in or not.
The game will be a regular season game but will seem “extra” to some and you’ll argue shouldn’t be counted the same as 163.

The perception is irrelevant. The reality is it’s part of the 162 game schedule.Deadheadz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 4:01 pmSometimes that game 162 isn’t the game Sunday at the end of the season that gets rained out. Re: Rules for 2020
Yes. We started on it yesterday and it will go out soon.
Oh, by the way, not sure if you saw Manfred's new playoff proposal that would start in 2022, but if they expand to 7 playoff teams per league there would be no play-in game. Now, there's certainly no guarantee that proposal will fly, but interesting for this discussion. We may be voting on a rule that applies for 2020 and 2021 only.

Isn't that the one game play-in that will be discarded?Greg Ambrosius wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:21 amYes. We started on it yesterday and it will go out soon.

Not game 163 if there are ties, which is our concern.
Maybe I read that wrong...

Re: Rules for 2020
The play-in game is the 163rd game. They would start the Wild Card on Monday with the new proposal. Now Monday is open in case there is a 163rd REGULAR SEASON play-in game.

Re: Rules for 2020
Okay, we are sending a short NFBC survey over the next couple of days. Some of you will get it this afternoon and we'd appreciate as many responses as possible. Thanks.
We'll send the same survey out to a wider audience tomorrow, which will include some of the same people on the first send. Feel free to vote a second time because there's a method to our madness when it comes to this poll. Thanks.
And while it's a short poll, there is room for you to write in some comments involving NFBC rules. Feel free to send in comments outside of the poll questions and we'll take a look. Thanks.

Re: Rules for 2020
That's correct. Do the opposite, and insure that everyone who competes at this level with this much money on the line is on a fair and level playing field with an equal shot at winning every day of the season, which any games after 163 do not. Guess you know my vote.

Re: Rules for 2020
1) The NFBC counts any play-in 163rd game into our stats and standings because Major League Baseball counts the play-in game as part of their regular season stats and standings. Do you agree or disagree that play-in stats from a 163rd game should be counted into NFBC league and overall standings?

Re: Rules for 2020
Yes, but we are going to send a second survey shortly to a second group of our NFBC data base, so we don't want to announce this first one just yet.
This first survey went to all Main Event and high-dollar private league owners from the past two years, so that we could get a strong feel of what the people competing for the highest prizes was. This next one will go out to all Online Championship, Satellite Leagues, Draft Champions, etc. owners just to see if there's a big difference of opinions. After we get those done, we'll announce the results. Darik is trying to parcel our email lists so that we don't get any or many duplications, so that's the small delay.
The response from the first group was strong and we thank everyone who answered. Darik will get this one sent to our second group shortly and then we'll know more and announce the results.

Without giving out the results what were the percentages and how many responded?

Re: Rules for 2020
I didn't look yesterday, but I think over 50% responded to the survey and there isn't a majority consensus either way. We definitely have learned from the early results, but let's see what even more players say.
