There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
Now that the Bellagio is official, I really wanted to put something together for Thursday evening the 31st after the Main Event that afternoon which should wrap up around 9:00 p.m. PST. For the last few years I have had post-draft event in NYC which has been a blast. But this being Vegas and so many of us getting together who really don't get a chance to see each other much let alone ever meet in person in the first place, there needs to be a party worthy of the NFBC and in the true MTM tradition of fun, food, drink, and debauchery...okay I'll leave out the debauchery.
So I have been working with the Bellagio on a venue, and to be honest, the restaurants and lounges are just so ridiculously expensive to reserve even for a couple of hours. I feel the money would be better spent on getting a huge ass suite, having the affair catered, and there will plenty of room to mingle, bullshit, trash-talk, take photos and get autographs with me, etc. at our leisure for as long as you'd like that evening. There will be music, beverages, and maybe even some raffles and door prizes just to spice things up a bit. The plans are still coming together, but as they do, I will post updates to this thread .
Now as much as I'd love to foot the bill for this little shindig being the extremely magnanimous son-of-a-bitch that I am, it's not going to be possible this year until I win the overall Main Event title, or as some of may be commenting out loud right now, "when pigs fly". No offense to Lindy and his secret government contract to outfit his pigs with jet packs, napalm, and sophisticated guidance systems, but that's whole other story. So this being said, I will let everyone know when I get an idea of the final total and what it's going to be per head. Trust me though, whatever it ends up being, it will be well worth the price of admission. But in order to figure this all out, I need a rough head count of who would be interested in attending once I put all of this together. So if you're planning on being in Vegas for the big second weekend and would like to be a part of the festivities, please post your name to this thread. I will then decide if you have my permission to attend.
I have managed to acquire this photo of the current prototype that Lindy is working on via my links in the pork industry. Ha! Get it? Links! Pork industry! I missed my calling...

Time to get the tentative sign up list going as I am getting inquiries already. Again, if you're on the list, it's just tentative for now. I will finalize the head count as we get closer to the event based on what the hotel requires as a cut off date for this. So if you're interested in joining us, please either PM me, text me, or post your name on this thread. Thanks!

Hey Mike,
I am interested in attending this bash after the draft. I would most likely be bringing a guest.
Thanks,

Will this party conflict with the annual NFBC viewing party that Greg is planning?

I'm still working on space for the Thursday afternoon party and drafts at the Bellagio. The National Auto Dealers Association is in town that week and they have all of the ballrooms locked up Monday through Thursday. I've grabbed two of the Executive suites and the Executive Boardroom for our Main Event draft and auction that night, but I'm still working on more. Until I know exactly what kind of space I have I won't officially announce anything. Heck, I'd add a second Main Event league on Thursday night but I just can't find the space for it.
But like past years, I will have an NCAA Viewing Party at 4 pm PT even though there isn't a basketball game at that time. We'll find a way to gather together late afternoon and then send folks who are drafting at 5 and 6 pm PT to their respective rooms. We can stay upstairs if you're not drafting for a few more hours after that. Should be a great way to meet everyone again and kick off the Second Weekend of live drafts.
Mikey is planning something for after 9 pm PT. It probably will involve limousines. Enjoy all.

Re: There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
Gee, Greg, thanks for your raving endorsement. I have one little escapade to the Spearmint Rhino a few years back with your old boss that got a bit out of control, and now I'll never live it down?! Sorry to disappoint, but this is going to be a first-class Penthouse Suite party the way it's shaping up...by invitation only of course. That means no dick heads, douche-bags, riff-raff, assholes, drunks or other such undesirables are invited. Wait, I think I just described Chad Schroeder all in one sentence! Anyway, I'm working feverishly behind the scenes to put this together, and will have more details including cost and all that will be included in what I hope to be one of many such gigs out in Vegas for years to come. If I do up NY each year, then I figured I need to really do up Vegas for this crowd. Stay tuned all!Greg Ambrosius wrote:I have a feeling there will be no similarities John!!Fourslot40 wrote:Will this party conflict with the annual NFBC viewing party that Greg is planning?

Probably Perry, but then again, I'm not familiar with his parties. All I can tell you is that the way this one is shaping up, it's not to be missed. Let me know if you want in. Re: There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
John Bosch has decided to join us for the big event...a man I have never met before, but obviously someone of great taste, character, and superior judgement to have decided to hang out with me.
Had a great call with a Bellagio events planning manager today, and really excited how this thing is shaping up! I will have a lot more details posted by the weekend, but at this point, I think I may cap this around 50 max. to keep it comfortable. So if you want in, let me know as soon as you can. Thanks.

Re: There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
Just a little something to wet your appetites for those still on the fence about joining us for this memorable event to help kick off the NFBC's big second weekend in Vegas. Looks like I'm going to have to limit it 35-40 guests, so if you want in, better reserve your spot now. I will be posting all the details this weekend once I have things finalized, but I think for what it's going to end up costing, it will be very reasonable for Vegas and worth the price of admission. Definitely a lot cheaper than what you'd blow in the casinos in about half an hour (or about a minute flat if your name rhymes with "odor" And also cheaper than a basic DC entry depending on how much alcohol you like to consume over the course of about four hours As usual, I will be throwing in a few extras myself on behalf of the guys I actually like...which looking at the sign up list so far is about half of you.
Nothing like a nice lake view of the fountains from the balcony while you're out smoking a premium cigar perhaps?

Cool, Rob! I have updated the guest list above. We will also be having the pleasure of Dusty Wagner's company that evening. More than half way to a "sellout" of the social event of the big second weekend in Vegas. Who else wants in?RobG wrote:Mike, per our conversation, I am 99% in for the event.

Re: There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
I have updated the list of attendees. It's going to be a great bunch, and I have a few more who have reached out to me asking for more details (which I will be posting tonight), and/or to be listed as tentative to hold a spot for them, which I will do. As I said, there is a limit that the Bellagio will allow for this gig in this type of suite which is one of their premiere venues the hotel has to offer, so 35-40 will close it out. I will need more solid commitments once I lock in the final price per head. Again, more details to follow shortly. I can't wait for this!

Now that the football season is mercifully over, here's a sneak peak of the digs for the big event at the Bellagio. I am finalizing all the details now and will be posting them shortly. This is going to be first class all the way, and worthy of such fine company that evening, suitable for the best of the best of the NFBC fraternity of competitors.
Anyone else getting excited yet? I've updated the list attendees again. If your're not already on it and want in, better let me know ASAP. Thanks.

Shouldn't there be a tiger in the bathroom?

Re: There is Going to be a Party in Vegas, Boys and Girls!
So we are now officially a go for this party! All the details have been finalized and I have reserved everything!
Translation: I seriously put my ass on the line for everyone on this list (and those not yet on this list) so that we all have something to look forward to in terms of a social event with so many great NFBC vets and top competitors all in one place for a few hours to meet, shoot the shit, talk shit, eat, drink, mingle, hang out, smoke some cigars, etc.
That being said, I expect everyone to be committed to this thing. A lot of this event needed to be paid for or will be paid for in advance of the big night, and I'm not made of money like Jupinka and Lowy for example. So let's all be ready to pony up the relatively meager amount of dough that this is going to run each of you without crying poverty. This is Vegas after all, and all of us are going out there are going to be dishing out some serious bucks not only for the NFBC events, but for hotel accommodations and dinners out, and in the casinos, and in the sports books, and in the strip clubs, and for hookers (even though some of you may be lucky enough to score a Kessenich discount out there as part of the NFBC ), etc. In short, we all know it aint going to be a cheap trip, but as a good friend of mine used to say, "You can't put a price on a good time!"
Take for example my excursion with a few others to the Spearmint Rhino a few years back. That little field trip cost me a small fortune, and that's not even including the pick-pocketing losses I incurred as well prior to leaving. But the stories and the memories of that night will last a lifetime.
So here's a breakdown of what I have put together for this and the associated costs. I am absorbing some of the costs just to keep it reasonable for everyone since I'm shooting big here the first time out:
Personal elevator attendant for escort up to the suite. Yes, the Bellagio requires this, and there will be a guest list for him to work from. I'm footing the bill for this. He's on duty for two hours (10:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m., after that, if you're not already up at the party, you may not get in, but more later on this).
Full buffet with two main course options, appetizers, salads, desserts, coffee, soda, tea, etc.
Open, tended bar with beer, wine, and spirits (bartender on me)
Premium cigar selection for both the men and the ladies for smoking out on the balconies overlooking the famous Bellagio Fountians and the Vegas strip (on me)
Door prizes for all attendees and a raffle for a free 2017 NFBC Drat Champions entry with fully functional, cutting edge draft software (on me) Okay that last part about the software was bullshit, but I had to throw that dig in there after yesterday. But the raffle for the free draft champions entry isn't.
Music by Van Halen $300,000. I figured go big or go home. I actually looked this up, and this is the starting price for a private party with Van Halen playing it. Then I figured at roughly $10,000 per person, this might be a tall order unless Cassavetes shows up and wants to do us all a solid, but he's a cheap ass Hollywood celeb, so forget that happening.
Note: I am hoping that the reverse psychology here works when Cassavetes reads this, and he becomes so incensed at my insinuation that he is a cheap ass, that he goes out and snags Van Halen for us...or just gets David Lee Roth for a song or two...maybe California Girls and Just a Gigolo and he can leave, that's fine with me, Nick.
Truthfully, there will be music throughout the evening which I will have set up on the in-suite sound system. I am open to requests, but there will be no country or western music unless millionaire Dave Potts himself wants to bust out his guitar, and even then I'll only allow about five minutes of that shit!
Draft results up on the big screen t.v. for everyone to comment on, ridicule, and discuss throughout the evening. Wouldn't be an NFBC party without some draft results to talk about, mull over, and debate. P.S. They will all be from Gekko drafts!
And of course, last but not least, let's not forget that all of this will take place in one of the Bellagio's Grand Lake View Two-Bedroom Penthouse Suites. By the way, these bedrooms can be used for sex by anyone in attendance because I'm not sleeping in these rooms anyway. So knock yourselves out if you're so inclined. No extra fee for this, but I cannot guarantee they will not have been used before you.
Grand total comes in at about $130-$140 per person depending upon the number of attendees and alcohol consumption, but I erred on the high side with this. If you don't drink, contact me and we'll work something out, but the fucking sodas run like five bucks apiece anyway. I'm sure that I'll be lucky to come close to breaking even on this, but it will be well worth it. If you would like to donate a little more to the cause out of the goodness of your hearts, please feel free, but now you have a ballpark figure to work with which is incredibly cheap given what you're getting if you ask me.
So who else wants in now? I have to cap it at about 35-40 guests, so first come, first served to reserve your spot. Looking forward to seeing everyone there, 10:00 p.m. until whenever we call it a night/morning, Thursday, March 31st in Vegas Baby!
