Re: Bryce Harper - 1st Round Pick
Absolutely. Harper is exactly the kind of low risk investment you want in the first round. Guys who are 20 or 21 years old are clearly better than all but a dozen or so MLB caliber players who have three, four years more experience.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Its with in reason to expect the 1st season (2012) 19 year old players stats, to approach the 2nd season (2012) 20 yr old players stats in his 2nd (2013) season. Steals maybe not, but its quite possible that the 19 yr old exceeds the some of the stats of the 20 year old this year. If I Rememebr, the 20 year olds first season (age 19 - 2011) was one big turd over 135 AB's.

He's a solid second rounder with new car appeal as a first rounder for those who like to pay full retail price.
Re: Bryce Harper - 1st Round Pick
if given a choice between taking harper "early" in the first or taking edwin encarnacion in the 2nd... im taking harper every day of every week of every year. i think there is going to be a lot of disappointed encarnacion owners.
i also think that stanton going at 15 is insane. he could hit 50 homers and drive in only 75.

Agree, Stanton and Encarn should be 4th-5th rounders.swampass wrote:if given a choice between taking harper "early" in the first or taking edwin encarnacion in the 2nd... im taking harper every day of every week of every year. i think there is going to be a lot of disappointed encarnacion owners.

Not just the $150 leagues. Harper has an ADP of 16.8 in the $350 RotoWire Online Championship going into tonight's draft. He's gone as high as 11th and no lower than 22nd thus far.Lobbyist999 wrote:The things people will attempt for $150.
