Gallagher=pure speculation. He's pitching ok but not very efficient - I suspect he'll have his QS's but also a blowup here and there that bring his ratios back to neutral. Laffey not good enough... LOL..

You missed four of Brian's hitter's just like A.Ramirez... Flores, Shumaker, M.Izturis, Ianetta
Aaron Laffey SP 43.2 3.504 3 1.374 21 = Negative WHIP offsets positive ERA, below avg Ks. If I put this kinda mediocrity on the list there would be 100 players. LOFL.

Ramirez is on the list, I guess you missed that. I'll check the others.
Go ahead. List your 100. I want to see it.

Who's winning the FAAB war in LV3?

THE GOOD (by week)

1) Main Event, Cantu $254, bid much more than needed but ultimately worth it.

1) Long Gone, Dempster $6 freakin' dollars. What a steal.

1) Big Alameda, Litsch $3

2) Main Event, D Murphy $300, again way more than needed but a great pickup.

3) Main Event, Ryan Ludwig $122, pd too much AGAIN, uncontested bid, but WOW! 3 great pickups in 3 wks

3) Long Gone, Greg Smith for $1, not bad.

4) Big Alameda, Barmes $59, nice while he lasted.

4) Mad Russians, Gavin Floyd $57 (after I dropped him, my 30th rd pick :( ). Good pickup.

4) Long Gone, Armando Galaragga $16, not looking like a flash in the pan.

6) Zefurs, Ryan Franklin $122, delived much needed SVs.

7) DIRT BAGS, Ben Francisco $235, he paid up but good production.

7) Tm Connors, Jerry Hairston $47, ton of SBs and BA 'til hurt.

7) DIRT BAGS, J Contreras $11, surprisingly good start.

8) Col Potter, S Torres $154, good closer so far and could stay there.

8) Big Alameda, Alexi Ramires $1, great pickup for practically nothing if he keeps the job.

9) DIRT BAGS, Russell Branyan $38, on a HR tear AND he's not hitting 220 as usual.

9) Zefurs, Marcus Thames $32, HR'd in 5 straight games.

10) Latham, Mike Gonzalez, picked up a SV this week and since no one can stay healthy in ATL ...

So on the plus side:

Main Event +3

Long Gone +3

DIRT BAGS +3

Big Alameda +3

Zefurs +2

Mad Russians +1

TM Connors +1

Col Potter +1

LATHAM +1

Did I miss any? criteria: must be performing at a meaningful plus level, potential doesn't count til realized.

You could argue Maicer doesn't belong on the list and Schumaker should go to Eddie, though I got .315 25 2 18 3 out of him. Did they sit him for a couple weeks just to make me dump him???

However, it is amazing to me how much people hate catchers. I could drop these two guys next week and they'd go for $30 apiece:

Iannetta .296 14 5 15

Flores .274 5 3 18

Schumaker .315 25 2 18 3 could be good or bad depending on how many weeks it took to do this.

Low power and RBI rate are likely neagtive value, and since he probably didnt play every day I'd guess off the top of my head that his good BA didnt generate enough hits per week to overcome that.

Latham for example picked up B Giles; in 6 weeks he is 328 20 2 11 0, nice average but he's been worth just $1 in value.

Flores .274 5 3 18 Agree with you on catchers being generally undervalued. A catcher, just for being a catcher, is worth $12 more at auction than an OF. But a good hitting Catcher rarely comes close to the production of mediocre OFs because of their days off and low position in the lineup.

Flores for example, 5 runs scored in how many weeks? That's big negative value on that stat line, and a relatively low number of ABs marginalizes BA whether good or bad.

I'll be driving to bum-**** Richmond tomorrow to pull a quick concrete pour for a cool client.

That's much further than Alameda!

~Lance Remembering the beerfest? We will have one for you.

My measure for a good free agent is one who is later picked up in my private 12-man, 16 player roster league. I see Elijah Dukes was picked up today. Success! (It doesn't hurt that he single-handedly kept my team afloat yesterday either.)

E. Brown was a solid cheap pick up for the weeks I used him.

C'mon rumors...

Trade Holliday to OAK...then we can expose his fraudulent power numbers.

If the season ended today...I'd be ready to select Ryan Braun and Josh Hamilton in the early 1st round.

I believe!

Kinsler's career batting 1st or 2nd

161 games

662 ab

137 runs

199 hits

39 2b

4 3b

25 hr

90 rbi

33 sb

.301 avg

Those are top 7 numbers, if not Top 5

Those are top 7 numbers, if not Top 5 I have Kinsler AND Hamilton (like you) in a $250 entry 13 team mixed auction league (local live)...I'm sitting in first by 14 points over 2nd!

The more I get used to auctions...the more I may enter them.

Brilliant.

Pull Snell to pinch hit a sap who can't even lay down a bunt.

Genius.

One question...

If a catcher pulls a mental error, and fails to tag out a player, thinking it was a force play...why is that not an error???

The ensuing two runs that came in should not be earned runs...as that would have been out #3.

Baseball has some bullshit rules.

Nice surge, Kevin!

Your team has been rising as fast as my team has been falling.

I like how my hitting is coming around a bit...but my "smoke and mirrors pitching act" is is done.

Nice job to everyone in the league. Eddie, your team finished up strong, congratulation on second. Also want to congratulate Brian for finishing in third.

Hope too see you all back next year competing for the $100,000.

Nice job Kelly and Eddie. I also want to thank Kenny for running the team all season while I was back in the sandbox on tour of duty #4.
