They're NOT Saying, Yooouuuk! ...any more

Kevin Youkilis is Kevin Youkilis.
A VERY injury proned hitter who pummels the Green Monster, when he does the Red Sox and his owners the gracious honor of taking the field.
With Will Middlebrooks taking to Major League hitting, a little gulp may have left Youkilis' throat. Well, if it were us, yes, but this is Kevin Youkilis.

He has always been a top six round pick in Boston for his fantasy drafters.
It's time for the madness to stop. And I've got the perfect solution.
Youkilis draft spot was not predicated on Youkilis being a very good hitter. More towards being in the middle of an explosive lineup in a ball park that was perfect for him.
Lets trade the former Greek God of walks (Now, Greek God of Gauze) to the team that originally idolized him, the Oakland Athletics.
Let's see what a lot of foul territory does to him.
Let's see how he hits without the shadow of a close fence in the batters box.
Let's see how he hits with Jonny Gomes and Cliff Pennington around him.
Those are on days he'd take the field.
He could be the first player to go on the disabled list due to West Coast Depression....Unless Albert beats him.

So, be honest, where does Youkilis go in an NFBC draft in the middle of an Oakland lineup?
Double figures implies that it would be close to the 10th round.
That would still be kind.
Carrying that baggage to Oakland and leaving behind the qualities that made Kevin Youkilis (Besides his sparkling personality and his health risks), I'd say Youkilis isn't much of a thought till the 12th or 13th round.

The Chicago Cubs have a ball player in Alfonso Soriano that makes too much money. they would love to trade him to save some money since he is not hitting up to that contract. During 2010 and 2011, Soriano has had more homers and rbi than Youkilis.
Lesser ball park for Soriano.
Lesser lineup for Soriano
But, Soriano is the good soldier. He shows up for work almost every day.
More importantly, he WANTS to play.

Some ball players do not realize how good they have it.
Till it's gone.
Youkilis is one of those players.
If not during the season, the Sox will need to purge themselves of the players who once excited Boston fans. The same players who are now playing as if doing their fans a favor.
Youkilis is one of those players.

Bobby Valentine complained that Youkilis doesn't get upset over his own failings any more. No more screaming at himself. No more kicking dirt or throwing the bat down.
Youkilis has lost that edge. That spark. He seems happier having the best seat in Fenway to watch a game, rather than playing in that game.
He'll miss it when he's gone. He doesn't see it coming.
But it is.

Wally Pipp was actually a very good player till Lou Gehrig took over at first base.
Like Youkilis, one of their best players when on the field.
But, if Middlebrooks progresses anything close to like Gehrig did, Youkilis will only be remembered in Pipp-like fashion.
Youkilis will have nobody to blame but himself. He doesn't see the end coming. But, he's 33 now and past his prime. The aging will only serve to make the aches come faster. The DL stints even longer.

His next contract will take into account all of his maladies. And his age. And dwindling stats.
It may be then, that Youkilis fully realizes what could have been. Or maybe, what SHOULD have been.
And, what he has become.
But, probably not.
Kevin Youkilis is Kevin Youkilis.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
