Here was an interesting note in today's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal about Brewers' SS Alcides Escobar:
The Brewers are very excited about the winter ball showing in Venezuela of shortstop Alcides Escobar, who ran away with the batting title with a .393 average. Club officials were particularly impressed that Escobar - a noted free-swinger - drew 14 walks in 45 games to finish with a .440 on-base percentage.
"I'm really happy for him," said Nichols. "He had the eye of the tiger down there. I didn't really see that coming.
"It seems like he's ready to take off. He's obviously making a lot of progress."

Does this mean he leads off while Gomez hits near the bottom?

Escobar and Gomez on the Brewers may be like turning Secretariat and Seabiscuit into plow horses.
