L.A. Dodgers Offense

Post by Jim Young » Mon Apr 06, 2009 1:21 pm

I am a huge Dodgers fan, and I have to say that I am pretty pleased with their offense as it heads into the season. This is the first time in the past 6 seasons that I have actually felt good about their offense heading into a season. They have power, speed, youth, and tons of guys that can hit for average.

Furcal

Hudson

Manny

Either

Martin

Loney

Kemp

Blake

It kind of looks like an AL offense if you ask me. There is some great depth there at the bottom of the order with Kemp and Blake. It really looks promising. All they need is for the young stud pitching to deliver, and they could be in store for a phenomenal season.

Kemp has to be one of the few players hitting 7th in the lineup, that was taken in the second round in most drafts.

In 2010, he'll be the #1 OF on the board.

headhunters -

Kemp finished as the 12th most valuable OFer last season - which made him a late 2nd/early 3rd value in '08. Like with stocks, you've got to anticipate not just react. See below.

Matt Kemp flashback #1 ...

I've noticed this, too, and am puzzled by it. If Pierre or Ethier were to be hit by a truck, I could see Kemp being worth a high draft pick. As things stand right now, however, he's certainly not worth a 4th or 5th round pick.

You've probably got it right -- 10th or 11th round seems about fair for a potential part-timer.

He went in the 5th-6th round because he has a combination of power, speed and BA potential that could make him a 1st-2nd rounder. He flashed that potential last season, and appeared ready to deliver.

One would assume that a player with his talent would get full playing time sooner rather than later. So far, the Dodger organization seems to have their head stuck in the sand. Hopefully they will pull it out soon.

I'll take that futures bet KJ ;) The field is too big without odds, but I'll go even money on the OFer of your choice for higher main event ADP, 2010.

"The Field" would be unfair, I agree...having to pick your horse is fun! Hmmm...Braun, Sizemore, Hamilton, Upton, Soriano...sweet bet!

[/QUOTE]Matt Kemp #1 OF'er in 2010 ... am I still crazy?

Braun 312-29-16 106-103

Kemp 306-24-34-96-100 (in spite of Torre batting him 7th-8th most of the season).

You nailed Kemp on the nose, Kevin.

You overestimated Torre's managerial skills however. :(
