Question For Those Who Drafted In New York

Post by Tom Kessenich » Tue Apr 05, 2011 10:40 am

I wanted to toss something out there for those of you who joined me in New York (or are thinking of joining me next year and beyond). We typically don't have a "pregame" deal for anyone beyond my introduction - which I know all of you love, right? :D But if we had the opportunity to have a beautiful, talented young woman sing the National Anthem is that something that people would enjoy?

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Can we add topless to the list of adjectives? That's patriotic, right? :D

No topless! I think this might be a family member of Tom's. ;)

It's not a family member and I'm looking for serious answers. Honest. It's something we've never done before and it's possible it could be arranged. I've heard her sing and she's very talented. I wanted to see if people would be interested if we could provide it or not. So let me know what you think.

Serious replies only.

I have 4 beautiful daughters, remind me to never bring them to an NFBC event.

Tom, again, a great time in NYC and CitiField; that would be pretty cool having the National Anthem sung prior to the draft starting.

Well, I guess I'll be the buzz kill in the room...I think it's a little far-fetched, in all honesty.

Who's gonna sing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch (the break after round 20)?

The way that room is set up, half of us might not even see her. Sounds kinda corny, but it beats the Ed Kranepool speech from year 2.
Happy Recap

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I have no idea where Tom is headed with this idea, but it's opened the craziest can of worms I can ever remember!! :D Just to ease the minds of the Las Vegas participants, we aren't going this route. We're going to induct another Hall of Fame member next year and start at 10 am on time every time!!! The only singing you're going to hear in Las Vegas is me in the shower before drafts begin!! :D
