Lineup Lock Times This Week
With the All-Star break upon us here's a reminder about how lineups will lock this week. All hitters can be replaced on Friday per usual so this means any hitter from the Thursday game can be started on Thursday and replaced on Friday. Pitchers, however, will lock with their first game of the week. So all pitchers in the Thursday game are locked for the week on Thursday. All other pitchers will lock before their first game after the break.

FYI doughy and Phil. This is pitchers coming out of the break were handled in 2019.Tom Kessenich wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:00 amWith the All-Star break upon us here's a reminder about how lineups will lock this week. That year they programmed it correctly.
It's in their power, Mark.

dough - reread the last couple of sentences. in 2019, it was done as you are asking.
"Pitchers, however, will lock with their first game of the week. So all pitchers in the Thursday game are locked for the week on Thursday. All other pitchers will lock before their first game after the break."

Re: Lineup Lock Times This Week
From reviewing the message boards, it appears that 2018 was handled the same as 2019. In 2018, the Cardinals played the Cubs on Thursday after the ASB, and everyone else played Friday. Pitchers were supposed to lock for Cardinals and Cubs pitchers on Thursday, and every other pitcher locked on Friday.
There was a programming issue that year where teams who started a Cardinal or Cub pitcher were able to move those pitchers out on Friday prior to the start of the STL/CHC game. Greg and Tom had to manually undo all of those pitcher moves.
Of course, there was no ASB in 2020, so the way this situation is being handled in 2021 is unfamiliar to most NFBC vets.
Along with the rule regarding IL players who haven’t played this year, we are playing with at least two different rules in 2021 versus recent years.
On a positive note, I’m glad we got clarification prior to tonight’s game.

Re: Lineup Lock Times This Week
1. many MLB teams have not posted their starting pitching probables (and likely wont until tomorrow)
2. unlike prior years playing the NFBC, this year, by 7pm tonight, we have to basically guess at what those teams will do
3. some owners will guess wrong and get stuck with zeros.
as if covid zeros weren't bad enough, now some will need a bite stick to absorb the frustration of incoming "programming" zeros.

May not be an issue after all. Today's game postponed.

Their problem became our problem.
The best they can do is blame MLB who has had the same schedule since 2018.

Re: Lineup Lock Times This Week
So as you can tell this morning, you are still able to move Starting Pitchers in and out of your starting lineups. Nothing locked last night before the Yankees-Red Sox game, which was ultimately cancelled.
We believe the system will allow you to move your pitchers and hitters today until the start of each team's first game of the weekend, as it had been set up in previous years. We are confirming with IT now and will email all NFBC owners with the exact Set Lineup deadline once we have it. But as of now, it sure looks like you have extra time to set your starting lineups today.
Sorry for the confusion on this and good luck this weekend. Here's to a strong second half for everyone in the NFBC.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
