Actually, it was for Petit, a guy who has a lot of potential. On the surface, a bad deal for Florida.

Tankersley, Owens, Lindstrom & Gregg are all better pitchers.

This one rivals the Cubs paying big money for Jason Marquis

Gregg sux if you try to use him as a starter (and his only bad start of the three last year was on the road at CWS) or bop him around from starting, to set-up, to MR.

Bottom line, he has a live arm, can get the punch-out (71 Ks in 78 IP), has good command/control (3.4 K to BB ratio), a couple of years of MLB experience, has had good health, and is 29. I still think Gregg will be 'Da Man before the end of the year with the Miami Marlins.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

of the 5 relievers who were potentially the Marlins closer the only one who has proven that he's not up to the task...is the one they just traded for, Julio.

Maybe they'll get that Florida closer magic to work with Julio like they did with Benetiz & Jones

but I agree with King Edwards, Gregg and Tankersley are the 2 best of that group of 5
