My thought is Correa would look a helluva lot better on my team for $35 than on yours for $39.

Jon Stadtmueller started out:

Clayton Kershaw $42
Chris Sale $37
Robbie Ray $25
Corey Knebel $18
Felipe Rivero $17

At that point I knew pitching wasn't going to be easy to find. While some of the offensive players went higher than expected, it might have been because people saw the consolidation of pitching on some teams and went after hitters more aggressively. It certainly was my approach after the first few rounds where I had very few players rostered.

Jansen and Kimbrel on the same team for $45 didn't help either.

Lots of fun and what you paid for guys doesn't matter RIGHT NOW. It did last night, but now it's the roster you've assembled that matters. Do you like it? We probably all know we have holes and how we fill them will be key. Good luck all.

14 pitchers were nominated in the first two rounds. That's unusual and definitely contributed to the high prices on arms.

I will be interested to see how the pitching heavy teams do over the course of the season. One team only $100 on hitters and $160 on pitching is a different strategy. 68% - 32% backwards but it may work. Some of the staffs are monsters. Good luck to all of you

C Vazquez $3
C Alfaro $1
1 Votto $34
3 Beltre $12
CO Cabrera $13
2 Harrison $3
S Polanco $11
MI Owings $3
UT Machado $37
O JDM $38
O Eaton $11
O Mallex Smith $4
O Conforto $1
O Chisenhall $1

P's: Strasburg $32, McCullers $10, Harvey $2, Honeywell $21 (fill out roster), Reyes $1, Allen $14, Brach $5, Ziegler $2, Ramos $1

My original plan was to grab Strasburg, JDM, Machado, and Freeman as my base, assuming they all stayed reasonable...I didn't want to go to $40 for FF so settled for Votto. I also was going to (mostly) punt saves and not overpay for speed since there is no overall contest here.

I put in a $14 bid on Allen mostly as a price push based on other closers and no one topped it. I was fine with at that point in the auction. I have him as a Top 5 closer this season. Since I dipped my toes in the save pool, I then tried to grab some more cheap ones...think I did with the $8 I spent on Brach, Ziegler, and Ramos.

I wasn't going to spend a lot on SP after Strasburg, so I waited around...and around...and around. Love McCullers. Harvey was simply a $2 dart throw. No idea what he'll do. I ended up "paying" $21 for Honeywell as my last roster spot. Yes, I knew of the forearm strain, and gambled. Well, now he is out for 2018. I'll simply have to wash my hands of him. I was saving money at the end of the draft for what I thought might be an Alex Reyes bid-off, and I got him for $1. A couple of owners had double-digit bids they could still make, and I really wanted Reyes. That's my favorite pick of mine for sure. His impact 2H I think will be huge.

Really liked getting Conforto for $1, too. Was surprised no one topped that.

I have some work to do pitching-wise in the reserve rounds, but I knew that would be the case from the start. Really like the offense (the catchers will be fine and only cost $4).

In the end, mostly happy with the squad, but wish I would have been more aggressive on a couple guys I did not end up with...namely Albies.

Great time, though. Thanks Andy for hosting!

My team summary is I could have done better as I didn't draft the best team, but I'll compete for a top 3 spot if you allow me to be modestly arrogant.

CA - Contreras - $23 (would rather him @ $20)
CA - Gomes - $2 (rules say that you need to draft 2 catchers soooooo)
1B - Belt - $1 (rules state that you need to draft 1 1B sooooo)
2B - Cabrera - $5 (towards end of draft and had $5 to blow)
3B - Lamb - $7 (decent buy)
SS - Turner - $41 (go big or go home)
CI - Frazier - $5 (going from a hitter's park to a pitcher's park, wait is that bad?)
MI - Segura - $17 (needed some SB's)
OF - Betts - $41 (go big or go home)
OF - Peralta - $1 (platoon player, nahhhh, someone will twist an ankle)
OF - Schebler - $1 (batting average schmatting schaverage)
OF - Trumbo - $2 (see Schebler above)
OF - Kepler - $2 (need to fill out the roster)
UT - Heyward - $1 (he's a 20 year old with braves, right?)

P - Carrasco - $31 (overspending for a pitcher was a common theme in this draft, I'm no different)
P - Archer - $27 (see Carrasco above)
P - Paxton - $19 (see Carrasco above)
P - Duffy - $7 (see Carrasco above)
P - Gausman - $6 (actually a decent buy)
P - Salazar - $5 (great buy or will be off my team by May 1st)
P - Gregerson - $4 (cheap savesr? I'm in)
P - Soria - $5 (see Gregerson above)
P - Herrera - $6 (see Gregerson above)

Need BA, SB's, & Saves (and I bought 3 closers - wow how stupid am I?)
