Jorge Soler got sent to the Minors.
I don't know what is worse in how telling his bad year is...
Being sent to the minors or being told you're being replaced by Billy Burns.

Ho hum, Boston and New York on National TV.
Like kids seeing Mom's meatloaf too often.
"AGAIN!?"

The media rams the Red Sox and Yankees down our throats.
Reminding us over and over what a great rivalry it is.
And it was.
A FEW YEARS AGO!
Now, we'd like to see Houston. Take a peek at Milwaukee.

The media is as right about the Red Sox-Yankees, as they are about the length of games.
They say the fan wants shorter games.
It is the media telling MLB that it is the fan who wants shorter games.
Who really wants shorter games?
The media.

Play the 'hot hand'
That used to be a saying for Managers and coaches in all sports.
I thought of that today when seeing Addison Russell was having 'a routine day of rest'.
A day after having a hot hand coming back from the All Star break.

George Springer and Jonathon Schoop were not 'rested' at all last year. Each played 162 games.
Sadly, they are having horrible years because of no rest last year.
Oh wait! They're having wonderful years!

The other player to play 162 games last year was Alcides Escobar.
Clearly, Escobar has been blackmailing the Royals for years.
There can be no other reason, can there?

Chris Carter led the National League in home runs last year.
Chris Carter is a very rested man.

When a child is punished by their parents,
The child is not applauded by the parents for enduring that punishment.
Athletes are.
Starling Marte comes back tomorrow.

It'll be amusing to see when the first day of needed rest will be for Marte.

Nolan Arenado is leading the National League in rbi in 2017.
Arenado led the National League in 2016.
And 2015.
The last player to lead the National League in rbi three consecutive seasons is George Foster of the Cincinnati Reds.
There are not very many hitting records that skip the steroid generation.

There are 12 teams over .500 in baseball.
Back in the day, we would say there were 12 teams worth watching.
The playoffs have made mediocrity celebrated in many cities.

Oh say (Jose), did you notice that Theo Epstein Quintana'd those other vying playoff teams?

It'll be interesting to see where Aroldis Chapman is drafted this coming year.
We draft Closers like Chapman and Kenley Jansen because of trust.
They look impregnable when pitching.
Now, Chapman has shown vulnerability.
He is 28th in Saves with nine, his ERA and Whip, hardly better than Tony Watson. Who lost his job.
I'm guessing we give Chapman a 'do-over'.
And I say 'We' as a collective.
I'll avoid like Aunt Ruth's kiss as a kid at bedtime.

Ever notice how Matt Moore and Drew Smyly are better when they're hurt?

Ever notice how the All Star break has gotten larger, while the game itself has gotten smaller?

Ever notice how hitter's defend bat flips, but look at pitchers after striking out to make sure they're not showing them up?

Have you heard more from Mets fans backing up Mets Management in letting Daniel Murphy go, while signing Neil Walker?

Remember Neil Walker?

Then again, have the Mets been rightly lauded for any move after going to the World Series?

Will we ever see Harvey, Syndergaard, deGrom, Wheeler, and Matz throw in a rotation?
Let me check the magic 8-ball.
It says, "Ask again later"
Well, that hardly seems fair.
One more shake....and it says...
"My sources say no"
Well, that's no good too, it only makes me wonder why a magic 8-ball needs 'sources'.
What is magic about that!?

One thing is for sure, if ever the five do pitch consecutive days, it won't last.
Not till the Mets overhaul that graveyard of a medical non-system within their system.
The Mets have played 89 games this year.
They have four players who have played in over 70 games. Four.
This is not 'tough luck'.
Bon Jovi is singing 'Bad Medicine', but the Mets are listening to 'Luck Be A Lady' by Sinatra.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
