Greg & Tom In Tout Wars Draft Tonight 8 pm ET

Post by Tom Kessenich » Tue Mar 10, 2015 3:31 pm

Greg and I are taking part in the Tout Wars Mixed League draft tonight at 7 pm ET. It will be broadcast on Sirius 210/XM87. I have the 5th pick and Greg has the 10th. We'll post our rosters after the draft and discuss how everything went on our Sirius show tomorrow night.

I have spent weeks prepping for this draft and my plan from the 5th pick will be as follows in the first 3 rounds:

1. Mike Trout
2. Clayton Kershaw
3. Andrew McCutcheon

There is no Plan B.

I'll target him in the fourth round if Stanton is gone.

Was the Votto pick at 11th overall in a league like that the worst pick in tout wars history ?? that had to be a mistake right ?

Nope. It actually was a redo after a mistaken pick was made.

This was the craziest draft I've ever been in. There were guys being taken 100-150 spots earlier than their ADPs. I realize this league uses OBP over AVG and I know ADP isn't a bible but there were some real wild picks in my opinion. We'll talk about this tonight on our Sirius show but I think this draft will prove to be an outlier. I doubt you'll see any others like it this year.

Gotta love it...just gotta love it! :D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

IF - yes Capital I and Capital F Votto rebounds to any kind of HR/RBI production you will have a much different view (no NOT my pick) Votto if healthy is huge in an OBP league where he is twenty points higher than Trout, McCutchen, Goldschmidt and Stanton who were the top four picks in the draft

I get that the OBP stat makes Votto a better pick in this draft but its still terrible because even if he wanted to make sure he got Votto and wanted to jump on him early he could of done it 2,3 rounds later and still got him easily

There must have been a lot of liquor flowing at that draft last night.........Marcus Semien in the 8th round and Erik Aybar in the 18th??.........Semien's ADP in the NFBC is 296 and he went at pick 118.........178 spots "early"...........Aybar's ADP is 204 and he went at pick 266.......62 picks "late"..........wow........

Perry took Semien early. You can ask him about it.

Here's the draft board for this crazy league, which uses OBP instead of Batting Average:

Well how much stock do you put in DM drafts that started in December? And how has he done in spring training since most of those drafts have finished?

Semien is the Oakland everyday SS but to start the season has 2B/3B eligibility
At the end of the 8th round the third base pool had been hit pretty severely and my only MI was Zobrist so Semien gave a player I could draft at either 2B or 3B and eventually move to SS if I needed to. I was correct in my assement that my 3B target would be there for me at 9.03 so I took Semien at 8.13. Not terrible for a MI with 20/20 potential

 Lame

I drafted Gose because I needed some outfielders and because of his elite speed - it was round 20 he was my last OF for startng lineup.
