Geoff Stein Update: On The Road To Recovery

Post by Tom Kessenich » Sat Oct 09, 2010 3:51 am

I wanted to let everyone know that Geoff is in critical condition in a Michigan hospital due to an infection that has spread to his bloodstream and affected his heart valve. He is on a ventilator and may have heart surgery next week.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I talked with Geoff's mom this morning and she said he had a 107 fever last night and they are trying everything they can to get that down. He was in the hospital yesterday, yet the infection was in his bloodstream and affecting his heart. They have him on a ventilator now and his temperature is 106. This is a critical week for Geoff, so please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

The good news is that Geoff was in great physical condition and worked out each day. The doctors believe he is strong enough to get through this and by week's end will re-evaluate the damage to his heart. He's 26, 27 years old and a great guy with a great future in this industry who had a bizarre infection get into his bloodstream. We're ALL praying for you Geoff. Please beat this.

All of our thoughts and best wishes to Geoff and his family. We are certainly going to make him #1 in our prayers.

My prayers go out to Geoff and I will put him on our prayer list at church tomorrow.

It is amazing how these infections can cause damage.

The positive is what Greg said, Geoff is in great physical shape.

I talked with Geoff's mom this morning and Geoff is still listed in Critical Condition but is Stable. He still has a 106 fever and is unconscious as they do everything they can to work on this infection in his lungs and his bloodstream. He is on a ventilator and could be on one longer than we thought. I'll provide an update tomorrow as well. Right now we just have to know that he is in good hands, pray for him and pray for the best.

Geoff is having surgery today to try and reduce fluids and swelling in his lungs along with another procedure. His fever has not gone down, which is a concern. However, the good news is that the doctors feel he is strong enough to undergo surgery, so hopefully this will be the start of his recovery.

Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers.
