First Round 2012

I had surgery for a PARTIALLY torn achilles. After 15 months, you are fully healed and only 80-90% of what you were pre tear. My surgeon told me that a full tear never gets back more then 80%. 6 months is a pipe dream. For comparison, see Nolan Reimold who had achilles surgery and only seemed back t...

Feedback Wanted On NFBC Online Championship

I think it is great that you are figuring out a way to expedite the league creation/signup process. Think about it: every time a player does a mock draft, if he could go to NFBC and see if a $125 league was drafting that night, he could conceivably just enter a real draft with money on the line(I th...

I actually don't know if there a ton of lessons to be learned from reviewing the Bob Enzyte team in a vacuum. You can say yeah you need to draft well...but that is not a solid lesson....everyone seeks to draft well, and to nail a few breakout guys late. Unlike Steve last year, he did not have great ...

Championship Season

I took a look at the draft of Bob Enzyte. I wanted to see what propelled him to the championship. I looked at his league, his draft, his pickups. Las Vegas league 4 was a shark tank, loaded with sting rays, electric eels and any other deadly creatures you can imagine...some top of the line NFBC play...

Cold Hard Look In Exile (Self Imposed)

Someone asked privately, who I ended up with at 3b. This was another area of contention between myself and my partner. We took Infante @ 24th rd. My take on Infante is that he will have a full season of ABs, which could push up some of his counting numbers a bit. I did not love some of his periphera...

Cape Cod: First Id like to say, I read your chat the other night. It was the best one ever and one of the best post thread to ever come across these boards. Is it because Cape Cod is an expert that has no failings and whose word is gospel? No it is because there has been a lot of thought and researc...

When your narrator last left you, he was leaving the realm of fantasy baseball entirely and feeling quite sorry for himself. Weaning off of fantasy baseball has proven to be tough. While I turned over the reins of my slo draft, I kept my finger in the draft and, though I am paying for it, I am split...

Cold Hard Look Goodbye

This post was never meant to be a referendum on the twice weekly moves. Because it has been brought up, I will say that the Friday moves had nothing to do with my decision to leave, absolutely ZERO; there is no mention of it in my post. To me, the NFBC and its decision makers ALWAYS make the right d...

Cold Hard Look Goodbye

With a great degree of sadness, I am taking a leave from fantasy baseball. I started participating in a baseball league in 2005 for the first time. After winning that league several times, I looked for something different and saw NFBC's ad in a magazine. In 2008 and 2009, I participated in some of N...

Great idea...I was thinking the same thing. 9 ET hopefully will enable some of those in the middle of the country and maybe even some west coasters, while allowing us east coasters to put the kids to bed.

Is anyone having trouble getting into draft room for the second 150 league? I have 5th pick. If someone wants to text me at 718 928 5361, I will make pick until I can get in

Tony Parker, apparently opted for Evan this year, after drafting Eva in previous years. In a quote, he stated:

"I just felt that 3b was a bit thin this year and wanted to firm up the position early. Eva is great but I felt like I could get her numbers later in the draft"

Dan, Great post, and continued thanks for driving the baseball talk through these long, dry months. I think that your posting would have been aided by revealing your picks (I also see no downside to doing so). We have quibbled over the term 'value" before. When I use the term value, I am referring t...

KJ, I know, you are probably a bit afraid of going up with a NJ tough guy. Rest easy and jump into the draft, because East Rockaway is on wimpy Long Island, NY.

Some NFBC Slow Draft Early Results

Greg, Thanks for this appetite whetting. It looks to me that things start to get a bit wonky in the latter half of the 4th rd. I think I took Alexei in the 8th rd of the Main last year, and though maybe his final numbers justified (barely) such a pick, I see nothing in his numbers, either peripheral...

Slo Drafts

Non Slow Fantasy baseball drafts, have their own rhythm. Depending upon whether you are in an informal home league or a more structured league like the NFBC, the drafts move at either a fast pace, or a very fast pace. I think that for this reason, most fantasy players like to see what their team is ...

#1 Overall Pick - ALBERT vs. HANLEY

Todd, You bring up an interesting point re first rounders and injury risk. There are some on this board who favor nailing down a top positionally scarce type player such as Tulo or Mauer from last year. COnversely, I suppose that the alternative school is to nail down definitve top drawer numbers ir...

Off-Season Player News: Bring Your Opinions

I dont get why everyone so down on Lopez. He is one season removed from being a 25-95 guy on the rise. According to 2010 Prospectus he had 30-100 upside for 2010. The he threw up a stinker in terrible park, with awful surrounding cast and while switching positiions. I say bet on talent and will say ...
