HOF Ballot
Blyleven really is the one that separates the Sabrmetricians from the majority of the rest of the fans. Sabr guys have a huge man-crush on Blyleven and everybody else kind of goes "WTF?". The Bill James crowd point not only to peripheral numbers but to the teams he pitched for, the home parks he pit...

NFBC Keeper League Rules and Signup
Where this is a higher entry-fee league, and looks to be a perennial cash cow (returning players etc.) I would think the payout, at least for anything like an Internet draft would be higher than 80%, more in line with the Ultimate Leagues. Set up and admin costs should be roughly the same for all le...

Does It Help To Have A Co-Manager?
I think it helps most in-season, when one co-manager prevents the other from "doing something stupid" re: roster moves. It might be perfectly clear to me that we need Lincecum and we should bid $400; my co-manager will convince me that even at $250 we might be overpaying, and no we can't drop a flam...

Rule Question:
If I draft a player in 2008, can I choose to keep him through 2010, or is it through 2011?
Thanks.

Professional Fantasy BB Player?
I think it would be really hard to go pro at this because you're looking at a 10-20% takeout (minimum) in these contests. That means you need 2 dead fish in every league just to make it a breakeven prop for the rest. I would expect that as the entry fee rises, the competition ges tougher (but I coul...

NFBC Keeper League Rules and Signup
KJ, Thank you very much and I look forward to many years of tough friendly competition. np about dradft date **this** early, I guess I wasn't clear... I'm mostly looking for a couple or three weeks notice. I just want to avoid the situation where the draft date is announced for "two days from now" a...

I'd like to get in on the online draft please. One request: Can you please set the date of the draft as soon as possible? I don't care if it is early/late or which day of the week it is etc. as this is something I'll just "make time" for, you know... but I need as much notice as I can get so I can s...

Mark Reynolds Is A SS In The NFBC
Greg writes in part:
But I feel confident that most people who bid on Reynolds last night knew he qualified only at SS.
I would not be very confident of this.

Week 4 FAAB Bids
Pie, oh my... The variance in winning bids on this one absolutely shocks me. $12, in the $20s a few times, several times over $400 (including my league, where I had the second highest bid and didn't get him). Brings two thoughts to mind: 1) There seems to be wild variations in Pie's perceived worth....

An Option to Frustration
Dirt Dogs... it cuts both ways, doesn't it? I see your point. At the same time, rotating in pitchers to get Ks and Ws could kill your WHIP and ERA. Putting in bums to get AB lowers your AVG. (I guess there are ways to get around this -- upper limit on IP and AB, but whatever.) I think what the Brit ...

I agree with you -- especially if both formats are offered. As it sits, it seems some of the rules are tailored to more casual players. This looks like one of those rules. Another is the idea that the FA pool is restricted to players on MLB rosters plus drafted minor leaguers. Like me, I think you'r...

Irrelevant, no, as those guys are out of the FA pool?
How long before the FAAB are 'run'? Is it minutes, hours, or tha a.m.?
Cheers,

Thanks Sparky.
When you say 'should' do, you mean "that is what they will likely do" or do ou mean "that is what [Captain Hook] would prefer that they do"?
Cheers,
B

Red Sox Nation... the "cost" argument, I really don't get. Where is the necessary cost difference between: "All four cities same weekend" and "X cities one weekend, (4-X) cities next weekend". I see no difference at all. In fact, depending on whether conventions are in town for any given city any gi...

I don't think Greg and Tom want to go through it all twice, no. But it's not complete depulication either. Each city still only nees to be set up once. If they really want to grow the event in 2008, I think this is the way to do it. About the grand prize: if a person thinks he has a better chance if...

Um, why not run it over two weekends and really jack up the participation levels? The religious bunch who don't want to go on Easter weekend can go to another cit on another weekend. Let me try and deflect the most obvious objection to this -- that the people drfting on the later weekend have a so-c...

Drafting/Lineup requirements
This seems related to the 'illegal lineup' thing in the other thread, but I want to ask explicitly. I'm doing my first ever NFBC Satellite on Sunday and I want to keep my nose clean so here goes: 1) Do I need to draft enough position variety to be able to field a full team after the draft? [The answ...
