Re: Early NFBC Draft Results

Welcome back to the first round Justin Upton. I see he has moved from, generally, late-2nd round to early-2nd round and now, in the last draft, late-1st round. Interesting.

Re: Bourn (less than) Supremacy

Not sure where Bourn is going, but I just grabbed him in the eighth round of a draft championship league. When you rely on speed, I'm not sure the ballpark matters much, although a good lineup will help. You know he'll be leading off wherever he goes. Unless he winds up in Miami (which is not happen...

Re: Will Justin Upton's Trade To Atlanta Improve His Value?

There is no physical reason why Justin Upton's draft value should increase due to his trade to Atlanta. The home ballpark is less friendly than the one he is leaving, and the lineups are about equal. But, as Yogi said, baseball is ninety percent mental (and the other half is physical). Getting out o...

Re: iPad's

The flash option won't work on iPads but I use mine all the time for slow drafting. Absent an upgrade of the draft software, I'm not sure I would use an iPad for fast drafting (75 seconds per pick). There are some glitches with the chat room and queue constantly resetting, but I think you get those ...

Re: Slow Draft Monitoring Tool - a new idea

I did a four hour draft and thought it was great. I think we finished in exactly one week. Much more active and considerate owners than in some of the regular eight hour drafts. I thought the middle of night might be tricky but as long as you don't mind doing auto pick every now and then, it was rea...

That's OK, Tom. I didn't really want to play with those sharks anyway. :D I'll wait for the next one.

I was shocked to see Ryan Howard drafted so early. I just don't see it. Too early by many rounds in my opinion.

Re: 4 Hour Draft Champions League To Start Jan. 16

Greg - Your posting and the name of this league indicate a 5 pm start time. When you go into the draft room, however, the countdown clock leading up to the start of the draft would not expire until 6 pm EST. Is the draft supposed to start at 5 pm EST or 6 pm EST? I suspect that a 5 pm EST is intende...

Re: What Are Your Thoughts On KDS For 2013

Sure, I'll take a crack at this. My most recent KDS was 2-1-3-11-10-9-8-12-13-7-15-14-6-5-4. My 2-1-3 start was based on how I view the top players. Like most, Braun, Miggy and Trout are my top 3. I place Trout a bit behind Braun and Miggy, however, because he only has done it for one year and I thi...

Re: The Mystery Of Justin Upton

I got him in the late second round in one draft and felt like it was good value. Given the uncertainty - both in terms of his team and how he'll play - I would be reluctant to draft him any earlier. In the right situation, he could deliver Top 15 value. On the other hand, I wouldn't be shocked if he...

Re: You Can't Handle The Truth!!!

Sounds like an awesome draft. I love the back-and-forth on the message boards. I also would prefer to get feedback, questinos, criticisms, jabs, etc., on my picks than total silence. I think you've hit on a great concept for future early drafts. I'm on board for the first four-hour draft and hope it...

Re: Slow-Draft Options - Sign-Up for Four-Hour Draft Limit

Thanks guys. A word of caution - I understand now that to get one of these going, we have to get the 15 teams committed on the Message Board and THEN do the signups. I screwed-up earlier and signed up for a slow draft to get this started. I was automatically entered into the current "normal" slow dr...

Re: 7 Spots Left For $150 Draft Champions League 12

Tom - Per my other thread, when I signed-up for a $150 slow draft this morning, I was hoping to be the first participant of a four-hour limit draft. Slow-Draft Options - Sign-Up for Four-Hour Draft Limit

Based on recent threads asking for different time options for slow drafts, I would like to see if there is interest in a $150 slow draft with a four-hour limit. I think it will be essential that teams communicate well during nighttime hours to minimize inconveniences, but otherwise it should be a bl...

Re: Slow draft options

Greg: Do you have the capability to do a slow draft with two different time limits ( e.g., two or four hours during the day and evening and eight or even six hours in the middle of the night)? I would be very interested in a slow draft with a four-hour (or shorter) time limit but would not want to h...

Re: KC/TB Trade!

Hook - I agree that Shields is better than Sanchez, Lohse or Dempster, but I don't think the difference is all that huge. I think Lohse or Dempster - but perhaps not Sanchez - could be had for three years at or less than the annual cost of Shields and Davis. If you take the secondary players out of ...

Re: KC/TB Trade!

I think it was a terrible trade for KC. In exchange for Myers and a very good pitching prospect, they got Shields (for two years) and Wade Davis (who, having excelled in the bullpen, probably will be made a starter, where he has been mediocre). Myers will be raking for the Rays long after Shields ha...

Re: Early Slow Draft Observations

I like Fielder a lot this year, too. Guy plays 160+ games every year and fills up four categories very nicely. He'll be more familiar with AL pitching this year. Plus, with Torii Hunter hitting second, the top of the lineup should be stronger. Also, with V-Mart back, he should have more protection i...

Re: Early Slow Draft Observations

Up to Pick 15 in my Slow Draft. One pitcher and one catcher so far. Some very interesting picks but nothing too crazy. Think someone timed out overnight, which is a shame. Most folks seem attentive, so I'm hoping the pace will pick up a little. Not sure how kosher it is to summarize picks in any det...
