Stuff And Junk With an Attitude

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Wed Sep 26, 2012 11:30 am

This poor slob calls me. Probably making minimum wage. Says he works for a company who is doing a poll and asks who I would vote for in the coming election.
I asked him the name of the city from where he was calling.
He said Chicago.
I said, Cubs or White Sox fan?
He said Cubs.
I said would you think that Rusin or Berken has a better chance of winning a start?
He laughed and said neither of them looked good.
I said, and there's my answer to your original question and said good bye.

It's too bad the Pirates and Mets are not playing a big game for the pennant down the stretch.
We miss out on the Locke-Niese Monster game.

I think Bob Gibson has Tim McCarver to thank for his Hall of Fame career.
I think this because I think McCarver was so irritating, that that was what made Gibson so surly on the mound and so mean to hitters.
I think he threw harder on every pitch, envisioning a smoking fastball going through McCarver's glove.
Now, I think we all now know his pain.

I'll pick a little bit on Todd Frazier.
A nice enough guy and great pick up by owners this year.
But, just so you don't get a big head about your year, Todd....
You have 114 hits.
In 1927, Lou Gehrig had 117 base hits...
Oh, did I say hits?
Sorry, I meant EXTRA BASE HITS!
That's right. Gehrig had 52 doubles, 18 triples, and 47 home runs.
So there, Todd!

ARod will not be in the lineup today.
The Yanks will miss him trying to add on to his five extra base hits in September.
In less at bats, Dave Sappelt of the Cubs, has six.
It's guaranteed that ARod will have as many extra base hits on the bench today as he's had playing the last 10 days.
Zero.

Andre Ethier has four homers and hits .215 in over 200 at bats vs. lefties this year.
The Dodgers have the money to sign him for many years, just not the accompanying smarts to make him a platoon player.

David Ortiz turns 37 this year and wants a multi-year contract.
You may be able to still hit, David. But the DH has changed, you need a glove now.
You may be Lofton'd if you hold out for years.

Why do baseball players get slumps?
I don't mean HAVE slumps, I mean get slumps.
When under performing for a few days, it's a slump.
Try explaining to your boss at work or your wife in bed that it's only a slump.

If somehow, Ortiz does go Lofton on us. He'll end his career with a 12 game hit streak.
Jacoby Ellsbury never had a 10 game hit streak this year.
Although, he did have a few streaks of 10 games played.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
