So Far For Profar

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Tue Aug 01, 2017 2:27 pm

'Jurickson Profar was held out of Monday's lineup with Triple-A Round Rock after he expressed frustration for not being traded at the deadline.
Profar has since been placed on the 7-day disabled list in Triple-A. The Rangers reportedly looked around for a potential fit before the deadline, but they were unable to find a deal. The former top prospect has appeared in 22 games with the Rangers this season, but he's spent the majority of the year in Triple-A while batting .300/.386/.440 with four homers, 37 RBI, and a 25/31 K/BB ratio over 67 games. His frustration is understandable, but there's still no clear opening for him on the major league roster. He's under team control through 2019, but his future with Texas is very much in question'.

Well, this really makes him appealing for another team.

To me, there are five steps for a player to have 'Made It' in baseball,

Step one-
Impress the scouts.
Profar did this to the Nth degree. There was hardly a prospect list that did not have Profar's name on top.
He was drafted, sight unseen, by many NFBC drafters.

Step Two-
Make it to the Big Leagues.
Profar did this. Barely

Step Three-
Impress the Fans.
This is usually an easy step. Fants WANT to be impressed.
Profar failed.

Step Four-
Impress teammates and the Club.
Profar has done neither.

Step Five- (And the most important as far as having any significance at all)
Impress Fantasy Players and Baseball Stat nerds.
This may sound self-serving, but stars, any baseball stars are measured by the numbers on fantasy teams and on the backs of their baseball cards.
Profar again, fails.

Profar is still young. 24.
Young enough to wake up and smell the coffee.
It's not the Rangers organization that has kept him down.
It's Jurickson Profar.
He is 24 and set some kind of record by already being on the seven, 10, 15, and 60 day disabled list.
Some record.
There's no crying in baseball, yet Profar is crying about not getting traded and apparently hurt himself doing that.
Profar has never hit 15 homers at any level.
Profar has stopped stealing bases too. including every club he has been with during the last five years, Profar has stolen just 18 bases.
He didn't hit .300 till this year.
Profar believed every word that scouts and 'experts' wrote about him.
Apparently, he still believes them.
Fantasy baseball players and baseball stat nerds see more of Adam Rosales in Profar than Yoan Moncada.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
