With any luck, owners who drafted John Smoltz and have been waiting patiently (even through a minor week-long setback) will be rewarded and only need to have Smoltz on their bench another two periods.
His current path has him pitching in the BiGs on June 16th. That’s just about the time that Brad Penny NEEDS to be traded. The thing I liked about Smoltz is that in a world where most people BS about injuries (Toronto Blue Jays, Liriano last year, etc..), Smoltz is a straight shooter who doesn’t BS. If he has a setback or doesn’t feel ready, he’ll say so. I love that about him. If he says he’s ready, he’s ready to take the world on. For a player of his caliber to be available in the 20th+ round in every draft is how leagues are won.
