Bold Moves that Paid Off in the First Half

Post by Cowboy Joe » Mon Jul 05, 2010 6:14 pm

Here are 20 selections from the Main Event that paid off big for their owners. In each case, the MLB player has played significantly better than his ADP, and the fantasy owner was ballsy enough to select him much earlier than his ADP.

Miguel Cabrera, ADP 10.5, Pick 5, Thoroghbreds LV 1 - Week 1

David Wright, ADP 14.5, Pick 8, The Beast NY/Chi Lg

Robinson Cano, ADP 36.9, Pick 23, Bay Bombers LV 2 - Week 1

Josh Hamilton, ADP 67.5, Pick 39, Show Me Your Teeth Chi 2

Cliff Lee, ADP 84.7, Pick 51, Sheets and Giggles AC 3

Carlos Gonzalez, ADP 92.3, Pick 63, One Out Wonders LV 7 - Week 2

Jered Weaver, ADP 153.8, Pick 102, Mallory's Killers AC 1

Martin Prado, ADP 173.5, Pick 103, FJ Fantasy Sports NY 4 - Week 2

Vlad Guererro, ADP 162.6, Pick 107, Keeneland Chi 2

Adrian Beltre, ADP 144.9, Pick 108, Zefurs LV 5 - Week 2

Stephen Strasburg, ADP 218.5, Pick 129, ImbackandImmad LV 8 - Week 2

Brett Gardner, ADP 263.2, Pick 161, Brushbacks NY 1 - Week 2

Miguel Olivo, ADP 299.7. Pick 169, Mallory's Killers AC 1

Neftali Feliz, ADP 251.4, Pick 180, Round Trippers NY 2

Austin Jackson, ADP 266.3, Pick 193, FJ Fantasy Sports NY 4

Andy Pettite, ADP 278.3, Pick 229, Mastersball(Kastner) NY 5

Scott Podsednik, ADP 286.7, Pick 235, Team Sarris NY/Chi Lg

Jose Bautista, ADP 420.9, Pick 263, Two Headed Monster, NY 1

Scott Rolen, ADP 347.5, Pick 273, One Out Wonders LV 7 - Week 2

Carl Pavano, ADP 356.6, Pick 273, Who's Next LV 1 - Week 1

Congrats to the above owners. I'm sure there are some other worthy candidates, but these were the ones that caught my eye.

Eddie,

Aubrey Huff, ADP 288.5 is a worthy candidate, but you were a slacker in obtaining him. Round Trippers, NY 2, used pick 240 (last pick in Rd 16) to get him.

Did they ever actually send out the final ADP for the Main Event or did you do your own research?

Thanks go out to Seth Trachtman (sp?)for compiling the ADP list for 26 main event leagues (3 online leagues were not included)and passing results to Greg. This list was posted on "General NFBC Discussion" board back in mid April.

I took a quick look at the 3 online leagues but easily could have missed something.
Wow I agree with Whipsaw for once. Eddie if you were a young pitcher we would have to keep you on a post limit because you would wear out your arm patting yourself on the back. Right now by that logic you are an innings eater.

I met Eddie at a couple of these live events and we were able to chat each time.

He didn't leave me with the impression that he was either an egomaniac or one who pats his own back.

In fact the impression I walked away with was that Eddie was a really cool guy.

Glenn Why would you assume I feel any differently? I busted his balls for his tendency to answer a post in a way that he shows "enthusiasm" for his team. No need to come to the rescue here... I certainly could/should and have had my chops busted for more on these boards.

I'd like to give kudos, and perhaps a curse, to those owners that look like geniuses for taking chris young (az) and delmon young late. those two !@#$%%^^ers have screwed me over for two seasons running and i couldnt bear taking them on.

so instead we went to blanks and laporta. OOOPS! and of course laporta was cut shortly after his AAA demotion and the realization that he was struggling to hit it out of the infield.

id like to have these 3 guys checked for drugs and/or corked bats.
Listen you egomaniac.... ;)

J/k.

Kent, I didn't realize you were being facetious. No coming to the rescue....

Just thought I saw a piling on starting up & thought I'd disagree because I did disagree.

No big deal either way I'm sure.
Not exactly, but close.

Not surprising, I think both guys are alright.

Forgive me disagreeing with others who may not feel the same. I'll try to follow the popular opinion of the boards when forming my opinions of those players I've met before making future posts. ;)

Liriano, ADP 172.6, qualifies as another bold pick. Long Gone from LV 2 - Week 1 grabbed him with pick 133 (9th round).

Ok, Big Ed, you've been taken behind the woodshed. No freebie kudos here, you have to earn them. Earn them I say. :D :D :D
