Eric Young picked up in FAAB????????

Post by Serenity Now » Sun Apr 25, 2010 2:01 pm

Greg,

Eric Young was picked up in NY5 in tonights FAAB but shouldn't have been eligible to be picked up. He was not drafted on "draft day" nor Week 1 FAAB where all players were still eligible to be drafted. I checked the Free Agent list this morning to make sure he wasn't added late last night by the Rockies, but he was nowehere to be found. Sounds like he was added later in the day and was picked up late. He should be placed back in the pool for next weeks FAAB. Correct??

i basically agree with this post. if young was not called up until today, how can he be picked up in leagues he was not drafted?

all those winning bids are going to have to be voided and FAAB rerun for those leagues. no way around it.

What are freakin' talking about?

He was on the free agent list and was bid on and won.

You can't reverse a bid now after he's won because then the winning bidders price is known.

I have no idea when he was added, but it doesn't matter....he was there for EVERYONE in the league to bid on.

It's just like Kam Mickolio last week. He was bid on and won in one league and that wasn't reversed.

Glenn, I don't have your examples in front of me, but EYJ was drafted in several live events and online events and could have been cut and then available in those leagues. If you see otherwise, let me know via email. But it certainly wasn't uncommon for some folks to draft EYJ and then cut him before this week, thus being available to be picked up this week.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greg, that's a real good point that I didn't think of or consider.

I'll check into it and let you know.

Thanks for the head's up....

12. Free AgentsAny player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league. Even players on the MLB disabled list are eligible to be picked up during the FAAB bidding process. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline. Participants should note that MLB unsigned veteran free agents at the time of Draft Day are eligible to be picked up or bid on in the NFBC Classic.

I will look into EYJ first thing tomorrow. I don't believe any players were added after 7 am ET today to the free agent pool. If anyone was, that's not allowed. But if EYJ was drafted on D-Day and later cut, then of course he'd be allowed to be picked up today.

I'll gladly look into this first thing tomorrow if there are leagues in question. No problem and we'll act according to the rules.

My feelings are if he's in the free agent pool, he's available for everyone to bid on.

He was available in numerous leagues, bid on and won in numerous leagues, there were backup losing bids in numerous leagues. Obviously players knew he was in the pool.

When I put together my intial free agent bids yesterday, I saw he was available in some leagues & not others. When I started tweaking & finalizing my bids today at 6PM, I added him where I could.

If anyone had a problem with him being in the free agent pool, it should have been brought up BEFORE the bids were finalized....not after.

EY2 Protocol?

1. Find all leagues (main event, auctions, DP, satelites, etc..) where EY2 was picked up tonight.

2. Determine if EY2 was drafted or picked up in Week 1 of FAAB. If he was, that league is fine. If he wasn't, proceed to step 3.

3. EY2 bids voided and then what? Owner gets his next FAAB bid according to his list from TONIGHT? what if the next player was picked up by another owner for less money?

I posted a list of all the players dropped in NY5. If he had been drafted, he would have had to be dropped, correct? Find me his name on the list and you can have him. If not, then he needs to go back in the pool. It's only fair to those of us who weren't able to look at the available players at 6pm. Just playing by the rules here.

There's a player who I adjusted downward that I would have won if I weren't bidding so much on EY.

This player or EY may keep me from getting a zero this weekend if a player on my roster is demoted as is being speculated.

As you point out Mark....this isn't just about the EY bid....it affected other bids and could affect other teams as well.

It sounds like Serenity Now's argument is justified. But there are a lot of problems with the way the leagues are being run. The leagues are full of hawks who notice everything. How many people noticed the Young issue before the free agents were run (who realized there was an issue)and did not say anything.

The FAAB lists have issues and unless they are gone through with a fine tooth comb these issues will happen again and again. I cringe everytime I see Jordan Zimmerman on the free agent list.

Glenn if i had to guess Glenn, any "illegal" EY2 winnings bids will be voided. that owner will receive the next player on his bid list that was not won by another team. i'm not saying that is right either, but it looks like the best compromise.

there is NO way they can "bump" players from other teams tomorrow. if they wanted to do that, it would have to be done ASAP tonight.

Not that this really means anything, but there wasn't even a runner-up bid on him, which leads me to believe he definitely was added late in the day.

[/QUOTE]I know you are Mark. I'm just frustrated because EY was there and available for all. I didn't add him, I don't even know when he was added, though I'm almost positive he was added after my I made my initial bids yesterday.

I mean I bid nearly $100 bucks on him.....obviously I believed everyone was aware he was in the pool. Now next week I'll almost certainly have to bid more if I still want him because everyone knows my bid price. I'm in first place in this league, I'm sure others will try to outbid me on a player I want if they have a need at that position.

I'm also frustrated because I adjusted my other bids because I wanted to bid enough on EY and stay within my FAAB budget this week.

Lastly I'm frustrated because if this is reversed, I won't have a backup at a position there's a pretty good possibility I'll need this week.

It just seems to me that he was there for everyone and affected so much else....how do you reverse this after the FAAB deadline? How does someone wait until after he's awarded to complain?

If you have a problem with him being in the pool....bring it up before the deadline.
