I think that the HRs are not that far off. THose two catchers are tough though...thre is punting a position and then there is punting a position. And getting a viable one in season is very hard, IMO. I dont mind that strategy, but I think you need to do a bit better. The rest of the offense looks well thought out. The SP needs help on back end, but that is more easily fixed.

I love these posts...havent seen enough of them this year.

Gekko,

Not trying to be argumentative here, utilizing realistic projections for each player drafted, is it possible to walk away from a draft having numbers that equate to the 80th percentile in every category? I think if you are in a reasonably solid draft AND you are modest with your projections...I dont really thinks so. But perhaps I am wrong.

GREAT question. it is very hard to do it in EVERY category. personally i don't project my pitching categories because double starts come into play. but on offense, can i hit my marks in every category, absolutely. now, can i do it without killing my pitching? not sure :D

thanks for the comments I know I really punted catchers every time I was going to pick one I like I got sniped of him. I think that my line up is great though and could make up for that. The one thing that scares me is my back end starters I need sheets and price to have good years. Thanks for the comments keep them coming

Nathan, I thought that the offense looked well thought out, but not off of the charts great. It doesnt seem good enough to counter what I envision out of two catchers well past their prime (and one who was not really good in his prime)and a middlin, non-upside, pitching staff. Id project middle of the pack overall...of course a couple of good pick ups, who knows.

Gekko, That is why I think it is hard to say to someone: "You look short on HR" To go through a draft, and count HRs is really not really accurate critique. If you are a bit light on power but have two solid closer 1 1/2 solid Cs, good base of sps with some potential comers at back end, then it is really not that light on power. Why because you may be 3040 HRs short of goal, but maybe just one pickup away.

We have all tried to figure out this Rubik's cube...no mattter how you turn the sides, the end result of a draft doesnt yield each side being uniform in color. So each category, Iwould argue, needs to be viewed in context with the others.

One thing to note about this draft and maybe a lesson to all involved in these events: Make sure everyone involved in your draft is on the same page before the draft begins!!! My Dad and I and a buddy were all trying to decide who to pick throughout the draft and, as it never fails, we all had different opinions at different points in the draft and it was very frustrating. I wanted closers, my Dad wanted to punt SV's, our buddy wanted top flight catchers, I wanted middle tier guys, etc...

Ash, I didn't think Clement was C eigible?

Both staffs need some help, ash's more than charts.

I probably like Chart's team better. I agree with the well thought out. There are some specific players I wouldn't have chosen but definitely a decent thought process.

Ash may have a bit more offensive depth.

Eli's might be the team I like the best. Who's idea was it to punt 3rd base? :D

In all seriousness, solid squad.

Yeah, 3rd Base was a big problem for us. And I'm always thinking to myself, "Man, if only I didn't draft that lame closer I could have had a real 3rd Baseman!"

Thanks for the comments.

Lots of new blood here - that's always nice to see - you guys should have fun battling it out.

I like Eli's the best as well - the pitching is easily the best of the bunch. Actually - I think you drafted more pitching than you need. His is the only staff I really like past the #3 starter - (although Price is fine as a #4- I just don't want him this year).
