NFBC Slow Draft Offerings For February

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Jan 29, 2010 3:29 am

Well, it's obvious that the Slow Draft process has been well accepted and we filled up a dozen or so leagues just in January alone. Let's keep the ball rolling in February before the Satellite League season kicks in and offer more $125 and $325 leagues. You can sign up for them two ways:

1. Leave your name and league that you want here on the boards or email [email protected]

2. Sign up online by:

Clicking on any Sign Up Now Link

Log-in as a returning NFBC user or sign in as a new user

Under Select Game select Satellites

Under Select Venue Choose $125 Slow Draft or $325 Slow Draft

Under Select Time select TBD

We will add the date of your draft after it's been completed

We will then start these drafts once they are filled up.

This format is 15 teams, 45 rounds and there are no free agent pickups after Draft Day. What you draft is what you have for the season. You can make weekly lineup changes, but only among the 45 players you drafted. Owners get 12 hours to make a pick, so you're not locked to your computer, and each pick is emailed directly to you so that you know where you are in the draft. It's a fun, fun way to draft with these usually taking around 21 days or so to finish. And the chat room becomes a nice social network, if you will, for the participants.

I'll offer these at $125 and $325. The $325 league was popular last year because we allowed the top three finishers to earn a free entry into next year's NFBC main event. Since we are drafting so early and so much can change between now and then, we felt it was smart to equally reward the top three finishers in each league with a nice payout ($1300 in value). We'll do that again at $325 per team. The $125 Slow Draft will pay Top 3. Sound good?

Here's the list of each event and the current signup lists:

$325, 45-round Draft Champions Slow Draft, Pay Top 3 finishers a free entry in the 2011 NFBC main event No. 4:

1. Russ Titsch

2. Mark Jones

3. Ralph Erhman

4. Colin Gee

$125 NFBC Draft Champions Slow Draft League No. 14, 45 rounds, no in-season moves

On MockDraftCentral.com starting when league fills

$125 Entry Fee, Pay $1,000 for first place, $375 for second and $125 for third:

1. Scott Liebman

2. Chris Plucar

3. Doug Atkins

4. Murphy Rogers

5. Jim Bukowski

6. Don Brady

7. Doug Brady

8. Nelson Sousa

9. Michael Edelman

10. Ralph Ehrman

11. Van Harper

12. Clark Moberley

13. Dan Semsel

14. Robert Particelli

15. Sean Stone

Here's another offering I'll make to the NFBC audience. We can do a 30-round NFBC $125 Slow Draft that plays out just like any other NFBC Satellite league during the season. So this offering allows you to make FAAB pickups during the season and run your team just like you normally would in any NFBC Satellite League, but we'll draft 30 rounds in a Slow Draft fashion to get the season started and we'll pay the Top 2. This format will be a Pay Top 3 just like we do for a $125 Satellite League. So it's $1,000 for first, $375 for second and $125 for third. Here's the offering and we'll take signups here:

$125 NFBC Slow Draft League No. 4 with FAAB moves, 30 Rounds

On MockDraftCentral.com starting when league fills

$125 Entry Fee, Pay Top 3: $1,000 for 1st, $375 for 2nd, $125 for 3rd:

1. Damien Passalacqua

2. Ron Kraus

3. Douglas Chrisman

4. Robert Hines

NFBC Slow Draft Offerings For February

Post by waiverwire » Fri Jan 29, 2010 6:49 am

Two questions...

1. I asked this before, but I think it slipped under the radar while you were in Vegas...would you guys ever consider offering a slow draft as one of the draft options for the NFBC Double Play? It seems like as long as it's timed to end before the regular drafts beginning, the participants would be at more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

2. Would you consider a $325 with a more standard payout structure (rather than equal for the top 3 finishers)?

And one unrelated question for good luck...is there anywhere to get the type of standings info you provide for the main event in the Resources section for the NFBC Online from past years? In other words, details on statistical totals for all finishers?

The new $125 league is filling up fast. That's great to see. If you're on the signup list, register for the league if you haven't done so already because this one looks like it's going to fill up real soon. Then send me your KDS at [email protected]. It looks like we could get this draft rolling on Monday or perhaps tomorrow night.

So who wants to take these final SIX spots?

And one unrelated question for good luck...is there anywhere to get the type of standings info you provide for the main event in the Resources section for the NFBC Online from past years? In other words, details on statistical totals for all finishers? Sorry if I missed this, but yes this is a tough place to see this question. Here you go:

1. No, that doesn't seem like a good option. It's called the Live Double Play for a reason. We want to grow the live events business in many ways and offering a $500 option for a chance to win $85,000 seems like a great way to bring in new customers to our live events business. Adding an online Slow Draft option for a live event just doesn't make it fair for those who took the time and expense to travel to one of our destinations for this contest.

2. Yes, I'd consider it, but it's tough to offer so many different options for the Slow Draft. I just don't want to confuse everyone when they sign up for these and with the $325's drafting so early it makes sense to reward the top three finishers with free entries. As we get closer to March maybe we can offer a standard Pay Top 3 format.

Yes, I can provide that. Maybe I'll post Lindy's league totals from the league that he won the overall title in. Let me see if I can post that here and then add it to the Resources Page. Good call.

Only FIVE spots left now for the $125 league. Looks like this league might even fill up today. So here's the plan: I'm going to be gone for the rest of the day today so I won't be able to set the league up until tomorrow. But if this league does fill up today, I will pick the draft order as soon as I'm back and I'll get the info to Geoff and MDC and we'll try to get this up and running so everyone can start drafting tomorrow night at the latest. Sound good?

So register online if you're on the list and send me your KDS and we'll get this league up and running.
