Sports Illustrated Features Fantasy Sports

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Wed Jun 16, 2004 5:22 am

Just a heads-up to everyone in the fantasy sports industry that the greatest promotion our industry has ever had is coming to newsstands today. Sports Illustrated has a cover feature story on the growth of fantasy sports and even features a sidebar on Meat Loaf's NFBC team! With more than 3.2 million subscribers to this publication, this is easily the greatest promotional vehicle the industry in general -- and selfishly the NFBC in particular -- could get.

I haven't seen the article yet, but here's what the cover looks like.

You have to like the cover tease: Why Everyone Plays FANTASY SPORTS. What Money. What Numbers. What A Riot.

I hopefully will get my issue this afternoon, but someone tell me what you think of the article when you get yours. Thanks to Chris Ballard, who spent three days in Las Vegas at our Fantasy Sports Trade Conference and the National Fantasy Baseball Championship for having the foresight to write about this growing industry.

The article was nice but they didnt fully understand how the league is run because upon the comments of Meatloaf's draft were tips to trade people and so on. All in all though I think it will generate some more interest.

Good work!
