THE NFBC IS SOLD OUT FOR THE MAIN EVENT!!

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Mar 03, 2008 11:35 am

Okay, I've returned to the Frozen Tundra of Iola from the Valley of the Sun and I'm happy to report that we're well on our way to finishing with 390 teams for the main event. We have a great chance to have full leagues in all four cities, which would be amazing. I think we can close signups this week and pick leagues and draft spots by Friday morning at the latest.

We have two spots left for the main event in Chicago and one of those is tentatively spoken for. So that leaves ONE SPOT LEFT IN CHICAGO for sure. We have TWO SPOTS left in Orlando for the main event and TWO SPOTS left for the $650 Mixed Auction League in Orlando. I might have another owner for that one, too.

Here's the latest on what we have left as of this morning:

LAS VEGAS:

Main Event: 0 spots (we actually have 151 teams)

NEW YORK:

Main Event: 7 spots

$650 Mixed Auction: 1 spot

CHICAGO:

Main Event: 2 spots

$650 Mixed: 5 spots

ORLANDO:

Main Event: 2 spots

$650 Mixed Auction: 2 spots

So officially that's 10 spots left if we find a way to get the extra team in LV in the main event, but we have other folks who have contacted us and are very close to jumping in. Don't delay if you want one of the last spots because they will go this week. Thanks all.

We have added another main event signup for Las Vegas last night and will hook up our owners after 150 teams with the final New York league if we can't sell that site out on its own. We have several tentative owners that can fill out our 390 teams by the end of the day, but we're just waiting to verify their sites. So we're still on pace to close this out tomorrow morning and announce the draft spots. But right now it's a first-come, first-served basis and we'll make the cities work the best we can.

Here's what we have left:

LAS VEGAS:

Main Event: 0 spots (we actually have 152 teams)

NEW YORK:

Main Event: 5 spots

$650 Mixed: 0 spots (1 may open though)

CHICAGO:

Main Event: 1 spot

$650 Mixed: 4 spots

ORLANDO:

Main Event: 1 spot

We are coming down the stretch as expected and will sell all 390 spots tonight. We are officially at 388 paid teams as of now as we welcome one more veteran team back to New York. This is going to finish very well, so hold tight.

We may also have a 12th team for the Chicago Mixed Auction League and could move closer to a full auction league there with a little work. Hang tight there as well.

Let's leave one spot open for the evening. I won't say where the last one came from, so we'll take the last signup tonight, no matter what city it's in. Thanks all and have a good evening. The draft picks will be announced as planned at 11 a.m. EST tomorrow. Join us on the Message Boards for some fun.

We received a couple of more online signups last night, so we are above 390 paid teams right now. Tom and I will figure out the city configurations right now and pick the draft orders for each city soon. We didn't finish perfectly in each city, but we're happy with the way things finished up and all 390 teams are present and accounted for. Unfortunately, some late signups will be left out of the NFBC this year. Sorry.

We are going to finish with four full leagues in Chicago and now will have 12 teams for the $650 Mixed Auction League. We will make that live auction league happen as I have a few other owners interested in this one. Stay tuned for that one.

Leagues and draft spots will be announced online at 11 a.m. EST. We'll post them all on the General Discussion boards once the cities are completed. Look to the League Forums for the city-by-city, league-by-league announcements at that time.

I told my kids this morning that it's Christmas Eve for the NFBC. They looked at me like I'm crazy. ;) Then I told them that I'm Santa Claus today. They barely looked up from watching SpongeBob. Okay, so they don't understand what daddy does for a living. :D At least you folks understand what today is!! :D

See ya in a few hours.

Okay, just a heads up before the leagues are announced: George Beason of Chattanooga, Tennessee is changing his draft location from Orlando to Chicago, giving us 60 full teams in Chicago and four full leagues. George will also do the $650 Mixed Auction League in the Windy City, giving us 12 teams there. We'll get a full league there yet, or at least close to it.

Norm Kent has taken the 15th and final spot in the Orlando $650 Mixed Auction League. We're still full there.

Thanks everyone for your patience today. It took an hour and 36 minutes because Tom and I were getting interrupted every five minutes to do this or do that or answer this call or make that call. It was crazy. I guess this is why we've made this draft pick announcements on the weekends rather than a weekday.

KJ is right, we should have videotaped this today. Wow, was it wild. Not so much Tom and me, but everything else around us. We have a few other very exciting things going on with the NFBC and those loose ends had to be tied up with our publisher too. I'm not sure anybody knew how important what we were doing was!!! :D

Anyway, thanks again. Now I'm going to a bar for lunch. Tom too!!! :D Time to celebrate the start of another GREAT season.
