Daily Drafts Debut On NFFC Site For Week 5

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sat Oct 07, 2017 10:52 am

One of the first signs of our new technology at SportsHub Technologies can be found in our new daily contest. We have created a daily draft game for football where owners can compete in a one-week contest while drafting their teams.

DFS is primarily a salary-cap game and that's definitely a great concept. But we know that the fantasy sports industry loves to draft, so we've created a daily game where folks can draft before the games are played. We have 5-Team and 10-Team leagues and they can be drafted as Sit 'n Go's (they run 5 minutes after they fill) or as Scheduled Drafts (8 pm and 10 pm ET tonight, for instance). This is the first week we are running pay Daily Drafts, but last week we tested them out with a select group of NFFC owners and ran 165 leagues in a 24-hour period.

All of these are private leagues where all of the money stays within the league. In the 5-Team League it's winner-take all at 85 percent and in the 10-team league we pay Top 2 (70% to 1st and 15% to 2nd).

I know this is our baseball site, but the reason I'm bringing this up is because there is a good chance that this same technology will be used in baseball in 2018. We haven't talked it through yet, but we could certainly see a nightly contest involving all of the players from that night's games in quick, easy drafts. Look for more information on that as the season approaches.

The price points we have for football are $5, $10, $25 and $50 per team. The draft software is also the new online draft software that we'll use in 2018. Much of the layout is what you'll see in baseball, so if you want a quick, cheap look at the new online draft software you can do that in these Daily Draft leagues. Here's the Countdown Lobby if you're interested:

If you get into the new draft room, you will see that the windows are all expandable. So that will allow you to shrink or expand the Que window, the History window, the Team window or the Chat window. The draft board is an icon next to History and expands to a new window. In the Chat, you can show the picks or just look at the Chat. Your choice. There is also a Pre-Rankings List that you can work on even before signing up and you can load that into every draft you enter for this week's contest. You can see who is entered into every contest by just clicking the name of the contest in the Countdown Lobby. The Live Scoring is really cool here and will likely be part of NFFC 2018 as you can line up your team against any other team in that contest and compare scores, players left, etc. I really like that.

Anyway, it's a brief look at what is coming in baseball and a brief look at some of the work the guys in St. Louis and Minneapolis have done already. It's a great start and hopefully this concept catches on. Enjoy.
