Main Event Predictions

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Thu Mar 30, 2017 12:32 pm

I don't think STATS can have an adp for only the Main Events, but it would be interesting to see.
I've seen a few Main Event results and most will come this weekend.
I thought it would be cool to have a thread to guess the first round results.

Here is my guess...

1. Mike Trout
2. Mookie Betts
3. Clayton Kershaw
4. Kris Bryant
5. Jose Altuve
6. Nolan Arenado
7. Trea Turner
8. Bryce Harper
9. Paul Goldschmidt
10. Manny Machado
11. Carlos Correa
12. Josh Donaldson
13. Anthony Rizzo
14. Charlie Blackmon
15. Miguel Cabrera

I know that some will take pitchers near the bottom of the first round, but believe for the Main Event that most will be started in the second round.
In my talks with a lot of Main Event drafters, Turner has been a thought from 3-12 and Correa, for some reason, has passed a lot of players on Main Event drafters lists.

Leading up to this point, almost all drafts have had the first seven of Trout, Betts, Kershaw, Bryant, Arenado, Altuve, and Goldscmidt taken.
Turner and Harper will crash their party in a lot of Main Events.
Their Spring Training has been terrific and it wouldn't surprise me to see a Maverick owner take either one in the top three in some drafts.

That's my take.
What about you fellas?
Agree, disagree?

I think Scherzer sneaks into the first also. I also think Harper could crack the top 5 in quite a few drafts. I don't think Correa will go as high as you do

I've been in 2 so far. Turner went 3 in one and Scherzer went 5 in the other.

I heard about that.
Was it just a matter of the 5 pitchers being taken near the bottom of the draft, then the bottom offensive players taken in the top of the scond?
Kinda just reversing their usual draft areas, sort of thing?

Scherzer 5 ?
That's a guy who has confidence that his knuckle won't crop up to be a problem!

I believe that Turner will go number one in at least one draft.

I'm going for the players with the most value (in order 1-15), cuz that means less risk.

I can see as high as 3, but I have a hard time believing he'd go #1 in a Main Event, if for no other reason than a guy wanting Turner in the first round would know he could likely get him a few picks down the line.

I think the real question is how high does Matt Harvey (97 MPH in his last start) and Michael Brantley (2 monster HRs this week) climb?

Does Harvey pitch tomorrow?

Not to mention Jason Kipnis, JD Martinez, David Dahl, Chris Tillman, Tom Murphy, Julio Urias, Blake Treinen, Didi Gregorius, Wilson Ramos, Pablo Sandoval, Steve Matz, etc...

Gotta love all the split decisions made!

Let me add one...

Puig will get me into trouble.
here is how....

I will debate Puig and Renfroe in round 17, hoping at least one is back to me...both will....as soon i pick Puig, the instance regret is made worse when the next drafter picks Renfroe, cuasing me to blurt out, "F***!" within earshot of the wife, two year old son and daighter who turns 1 next Monday.

It wasn't you Dough, but had fun in the online ME yesterday. Best of luck to you!

Don't you just hate that?
You put yourself through Hell over two players, pick one, instant regret, then the other is snapped up immediately as if to rub salt in the wound.
It was a fun, tough draft yesterday, Mike.
That ought to be a league that has many twists and turns.
Good luck!
