Josh Donaldson playing through injury?

Post by Deadheadz » Wed Apr 06, 2016 12:01 pm

Donaldson just hit another dinger in today's tilt versus Tampa.

Nice hit but he looked stiff running the bases, especially his left arm. Looking closer that arm has a heavy brace on the elbow. It doesn't appear to be affecting his swing but I wasn't aware of him needing to protect his elbow with anything more than a pad to deflect a HBP.

Let's hope it's nothing that will cause a decline in hitting or power, or cause him to miss games.

Does anyone know if he's actually hurt?
Pat Tabler and Buck Martinez on the tv broadcast crew are suggesting he's got allergy issues with all the pollen outside Tropicana field. Let's hope that's all that's going on with JD.

Well, I guess it's obvious no one would be dropping a 1st round player so that's not it. I guess I'm wondering if there's reason to start researching FA third basement for FAAB any time soon.

You're saying this doesn't concern you?

If you say so. I'm watching the game and Donaldson didn't "look right" rounding 3rd on his home run trot. His left arm was nearly motionless like maybe it's hurting. Later after I posted, they mentioned something is wrong with him on the TV broadcast. They pointed out his nose is red and he keeps taking out a rag to wipe it so they think it's just allergies.

Maybe you're just trying to pick a fight. Here's a link to the video. I'll let you have the last word.

Josh Donaldson 3B Toronto Blue Jays

Donaldson was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rays in the seventh inning, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis
Donaldson seemed to be limping a bit earlier in the game, and it appears that there may actually be an issue of some sort. What's wrong is currently unknown, but more information about the possible ailment and severity should come soon. Darwin Barney took over at third base following Donaldson's exit.

Nothing. Donaldson has a calf strain and Deadheadz was speculating that was why Donaldson was wearing an elbow guard. Don't blame Deadheadz for getting it wrong, apparently Aristotle is encouraging him.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Thursday that Josh Donaldson (calf) could return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Red Sox.

That seems a little aggressive for a calf strain, but maybe it really is that mild. Donaldson slugged a three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday at Tropicana Field before exiting the Blue Jays' series finale against the Rays in the top of the seventh following a groundout. He was limping badly as he made his way to the visitors dugout. Darwin Barney took over at third base.

"...could return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Red Sox..." I hate it when they do/say that.

You now have to expect the "Josh Donaldson is not in the line-up Friday. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said he could have played, but the team decided to give him one more day. Donaldson is available on the bench to pinch-hit." Ibid on Saturday.

Over/under on him playing two weekend games?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I'd rather he sits for a week, too easy to aggravate. If he feels really good let him PH or at most DH.

Hey Doughy, here's an example of what happens when I make a legitimate baseball post.
We all know now this player has had calf issues going back over a year.

But try to ask questions about it and one of the peanut gallery will crap all over you.

Nope. Dickheadz is insufferable. An annoying maggot who ultimately attempts to speaks nothing but of himself.

Sad, if you really stop and think about it. Few have time to; I guess for 3 minutes I have.

(Jesus Christ, I hope this grammatically correct. But after a 2012 Napanook and a 2009 Bennett Lane Reserve, I MIGHT have fucked up a letter or two. Just saying').

Another day, another log in, and another appearance of the NFBC Village Idiot.
