Prize Checks

Post by Tom Kessenich » Thu Oct 30, 2008 7:25 am

Glad to see the checks are starting to arrive. We understand that everyone wants their checks yesterday. We totally get that and we understand it's frustrating not getting them today. But the checks are on the way so look for them real soon.

That's great news emalbright. Are you a friend of Les Nessman? Out of curiousity is the letter metered, stamped and round dated, or does it say 1st class presort on it? Mind you, I'm not doing a Postal audit here but a letter taking 6 days to go from Cincinnati to Cincinnati is downright Clavin-esque! Anyway, I trust the rest should end up in our mailboxes tomorrow and Saturday. It's time for a new thread......................................

And with one less thing to do Greg, your fun in the sun time has officially begun. Enjoy

Greg and Tom never rest. They are already taking signups for Baseball 2009. I can see Greg looking for Pete Rose baseballs in the attic at this very moment.... :D

Nice to see someone outside of Cincy with a check. Thanks for the Memphis update. I'm looking forward to the Jersey deliveries in the AM.

Wow, six days for mail to go from cincinnat to cincinnat? Unreal. I'm just glad to hear the checks are starting to arrive to our winners. Next time we'll hire the Pony Express to hand deliver them. Sheesh.

I'm on my way to phoenix and the afl. Baseball here I come. :D

I'm guessing 6 days across town equals 3 weeks to CA. :(

it was pretty impressive to see 3 numbers to the left of the comma. Yes it was postmarked 10-24. Do they meter there mail at the Ohio office. My guess would be they were run thru the postage meter on 10/24 but did not go out in the mail til 10/27, thus most of them arriving today and those in Cal and further up north Maine, NH getting theirs tomorrow

Sadly - Nothing yet today in Jersey. :( :(

Not sure how checks mailed a week ago as still not here. Very confusing and somewhat upsetting too.

Hang in there T-Dog. This is an unusual circumstance, but the why's and wherefore's are lost on this Postal worker. Nevertheless, as I said in a previous post when the checks started to arrive yesterday, my guess was that the bulk of them would start hitting the mailboxes on Fri. and Sat. I got mine today in Colorado and since we still deliver on Saturday's (a subject that's under review by the suits), there's a good chance yours will arrive tomorrow.

Check arrived 10/31--Envelope was meter mailed with a Pitney Bowes Mail machine at F&W on 10/24/2008 and was mailed by the F&W employee on ???? --we'll never know, but seems like 10/27 possibly after 5pm(or 10/28) as far as the Post office is concerned. I guess capturing the float on 980K for 5 extra days is worth Greg and Tom getting grief on this board.

The float on 980K for 3 days would be at most 980K * 1.50%=$14700 / 365 days=40.27/day * 3 days= $120.81.

Whoever is the suit that has made the company policy to print checks on Fridays and mail Mondays should be shown the above, simple math solution and then made to sit in a corner and think about what is BEST for the company.

Very disconcerting if that is the case. Next time just tell me I won't see anything until Nov 1. I'll plan accordingly.

Obviously nothing here either Pete.

[/QUOTE]Great point. If we are told 11/1 and get it earlier, we all feel like gold. If we are told at first 10/17 then later 10/24 and we are still looking at nothing but junk mail on 10/31 we are not happy.

All kidding aside, the data base has many, many of our names and w-9 data. Running checks once a week seems strange enough, but needing better than 3-4 weeks to process the checks seems even stranger. Baseball played the entire post season before someone could get paid.... Interesting.

Pete
