Re: This Post Has No 'Value'
I have never thought of fantasy "value" as getting a guy in a later round then his ADP. I always feel like it refers to a guy who his drafter feels will return numbers that exceed his draft slot. That is how I have always taken it.

Re: Slow Draft Postings Creating Draft Frenzy?
Jennings was actually meant to be an example of how players are being bid upward earlier due to the postings on the early slow draft results. I agree with TZ that the drafter who is comfortable with his own projections, can benefit by staying above the noise created, which is I think what he meant b...

Slow Draft Postings Creating Draft Frenzy?
I think at this time last year NFBC had a few completed Slow Drafts, and probably a few more in progress. This year with the blast off of the Slow Draft, and Greg's wetting our whistles with the first 6 rounds of some of these drafts, it would appear that frenzy is developing around certain players,...

Re: Countdown to the NFBC
In 1977, as a 6th grader, I was a baseball card scaling shark. Scaling was the game in which you scaled the cards against a wall. Whichever card ended up closer to the wall, netted its owner both cards (or if more then two were playing, all of the cards scaled). Leaners, where you got your card to l...

Re: Marlins Are They Better?
Wow two interesting news pieces 1) marlins trade for Zambrano and 2) this likely means Javier Vazquez is making good on his threat to retire. On item one: huge loss for two teams. Cubs are paying Zambrano $15 mill per year NOT to pitch for them, but got $3 million in salary relief. Paying that much ...

Marlins Are They Better?
The Marlins went on a spending spree this fall. They will add at least $40 mill to their payroll this year in the form of three players, Reyes, Buerle and Bell. Is it enough for them to compete? And how much help did they get? To me Buerle is a mediocre sign. Sure he will eat innings, some of which ...

In Memorium...Mock Drafts
Obituary: Mock Draft, died in fall, 2011. Mock Draft left behind the $125 Slow Draft, the satellite leagues, the early season draft for money. For the last several years, at the end of the regular season, there would be an almost immediate mock draft that took place on these message boards. Often ti...

White Sox
Boy are there bigger losers in the off-season then the White Sox? First they trade a solid closer under team control for two more years at middle relief salary for a fringe prospect. Next they trade a bonafide power hitting outfielder, Quentin, again under team control for another year(two?), for tw...

Re: Anonymous
I will start this by saying a)that I would not play as anonymous and b) I do not care whether or not there is an anonymous in a league in which I compete. I also think that those who draft without revealing their names for reasons related to competition (e.g. not wanting others to scout their prefer...

Re: Self-Scouting Ryan Howard
All went well...thanks for the good wishes...it meant a lot. I point blank asked my surgeon about Ryan Howard for fantasy purposes this season...which he found quite funny. I wanted the NFBCers to know the even on the surgical table, I could still focus on the important stuff.

Self-Scouting Ryan Howard
In early December, I was informed by my wife that from Dec 17-24th, we would be going on a Disney Cruise with her mom and my 4 year old son. I had never been on a cruise, and more importantly had no desire to ever go on one. I like to be immersed in a vacation...not sitting around waiting for the ne...

Re: Love Drafts, Just Hate The Picks!
In 2010, I was in NY 4 with Mark. His draft style is not in your face or overly quick...more methodically nailing pick after pick with guys that returned value. Similarly he was a week ahead on quality FAAB pickups.

Re: Cherington
As a Mets fan, I could go on for days. In reality though, this is a team that should lose 85-90 games in a division where they will have their SP outclassed on every night. So why would Alderson spend 15.5 million over the next two years on a closer and a reliever? The other teams expecting to lose ...

If you are a Sox fan, or just a fan of good general manage ring, you have to like what the new Red Sox GM is doing. Faced with little room in the budget, owing to the threat of the luxury tax, he was able to remake the bullpen following the loss of longtime closer, Papelbon, to free agency. Cheringt...

Re: Time for DOUGHBOY to have his own forum
Truth is that his work is borderline publishable. I do not know what he does (did?) in the outside world, but some of these essays are way beyond fantasy league message boards. Dan you have a real talent, that the NFBC should be utilizing as much as possible....where else can you go to find a mix of...

On the signing of Omar Minaya as Senior VP in charge of baseball operations, a deal that will undoubtedly seal your fate and cellar dwellers for years to come. More Details On 12-Team Main Event
On naming the event, I think that most people who play fantasy baseball (in private leagues) tend to play in 12 team leagues. Even Yahoo's leagues are 12 teams. When you read articles, you often hear 12 team leagues referred to as a "12 team standard" league. How about "The Standard" as the name of ...

Feedback Wanted On 12-Team NFBC Main Event
With the precipitous fall of the competition, the NFBC needs to leverage its position as the only game in town, and its reputation for reliability. Even if it means initial slight losses(which it probably won't), this type of league solidifies the NFBC stronghold. Greg, two other issues jump out at ...
