Who has decided to enter the NFBC and where?

Greg - A lot of faith and hard work on your part is paying off and is much appreciated by us all! I'm sure many of us are also sending out the smole signals to anyone we know might be interested in joining.

Best regards,

Who will be in New York?

Viper - I'll be in NYC for the AL Auction on Friday and the Draft on Saturday. "Playing two" and probably so worn out from the auction that I'll be Dead Money on Saturday. See you there.

Where do we pick our team names?

From what I read, the site will up and running very soon (maybe today?). We will then get user names and temp ID's so we can go to the site and plug in our team names. At least that's what I remember reading.

Also waiting,

What CAN 2nd and 3rd Prize Be?

I voiced my 2 cents yesterday about trying to make sure decent cash awards are paid out to at least the top 3 overall winners. I suggested cutting 2nd to $10K and 3rd to $5K along with modest cuts elsewhere. I honestly believe we need to reward the top 3 overall with enough to make the hard work and...

Live Chat For Wednesday Starts Now

OK - I'll throw in my 2 cents. Gordon, or someone else mentioned that the $100K grand prize is the eye catcher, but the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place league payouts is the convincer. I have to agree. The fact that with a smart draft, good health to my players and good free agent pick-ups I can win $5K, ma...

Draftboard guy - Just a "heads-up"... Wooten and Marrero did not play enough games last year at catcher to qualify there. Maybe I have the rules all confused in my little head....

Position Eligibility Update

K of Q - I think the "most games played last season" rule Greg is talking about is only for rookies that were called up last year. Ward's been around too long so he should be utility only this year until he plays 20 games at a position(IMO).

Question...

Greg - In the auction leagues, who will track dollars spent and still available? Is any running count posted for all to see? I see you mentioned last night that in the LABR you twice bid more than you had available; so I'm wondering who told you that?

Thanks,

Pete

Simple Eligibility Questions

In defense of Gordon, I can tell you that it's hard to tell if someone has a legal roster or not while you are drafting your own team. For one, several players can fill several positions. So, if I draft Pujols in round one, are you filling an outfield spot for me or first base while you are tracking...

Interesting AL LABR League Results

Just looking - If the Yankees and Red Sox have the hardest schedules, then you're telling me that Toronto, Baltimore and Tampa have easier schedules? Let me hope you are in my league :D

Interesting AL LABR League Results

Greg - I'm a bit upset with the results. Vazquez was my "sleeper" pick for round 6.... Now what am I going to do????

Flip Coins?

You and your partner can decide in advance who gets what weeks (Odd or Even). Since the draft has not yet begun it seems fair to do it that way and nobody will feel they got screwed. Another idea is to have one partner "buy-out" the other partner for say 1/2 the "retail value". This way the guy with...

Greg - Will we be asked for "Team Names" (when and how?) or will we just use our names?

First Pitch Forum

I can't make it to NY today, but I attended the one in New Jersey last year. I thought it was decent, but a repeat of much of what I already knew. If it were held closer to the draft date you would probably get more out of it as one of the topics I enjoyed most was hearing about injury updates. It's...

Simple Eligibility Questions

Greg - You replied earlier (about 10 posts ago) that there could only be 2 possible errors, not drafting 2 catchers or not drafting 2 middle infielders. Did I miss something in the rules? Do we really need to draft 2 MI's? I see where we need 1 second baseman, 1 short stop and 1 MI (2nd or SS); not ...

NFBC questions

LB - You never know.... Prior might have back spasms this year and fall to round 4. That reminds me of a tragic mistake I made at a local draft several years ago. I was just about to select Mark McGuire when my partner asked out loud "Hey, what's up with McGuire, anyone know?". Immediately a reply c...

NFBC questions

LB - What position did you pick from? I see you won the WCOFB and had A-Rod and Prior on the team. Not a bad 1-2 punch. Did team #1 pass on A-Rod in your league last year?

Player Eligibility

OK - Fast forward to 2004.... Player "X" gets called up from AAA after the season starts. Where does he qualify to play "immediately? His AAA position, the position he gets called to fill (if different) or utility until he plays 20 games in 2004?

Thanks in advance,

60 seconds to make your picks?

Lots of emotions on this thread and we are still a month away from the draft. For the record, I would like pick one; but would settle for anywhere from 2-6. Not sure I want to draft much higher and I hate the middle (7/8). I would prefer 12-15 over 7,8 or 9. Anyway, you guys keep beating up t...

If A-Rod goes to the Yanks...

I think both will do better than they would have this year. A-Rod will excel on a winning team and Soriano would have felt the sting of the ugly playoffs under the NY lights. He will run more in Texas; but A-Rod may run less in NY. That lineup will not need to run themselves out of innings. As for n...

Position eligibility

Greg - Well, you really do learn something new every day. I just read the rules again and saw that minor leaguers will qualify at the position they played most at last year, and not need a 20 game requirement. Now for a "stupid" qusetion... Does this mean games played in the minors or does this mean...

Position eligibility

Greg - It sounds like you are thinking about making a player eligible at the position he played at in another country or the one he played at most last year if none at 20 games anywhere. I thought perhaps they would only qualify at utility until they played 20 games at a position in 2004. This will ...

Logistical Question

Greg, I was in the WCOFF last year and they did not start the clock for team two until team one's pick was posted. Will this be the same? Basically, it meant that you had a bit longer than one minute to actually make your selection, depending on how long it took the "board" person to find and post t...

Greg - Nice to be in this NYC Draft league. Thanks for the warm welcome. Spelling my name right was a good sign that you'll get it right on the $100K check too. Cool beans. :D
