Re: Jose Fernandez Expected to Go on DL; MRI Scheduled

I'll pass Dan... Not into hoping someone gets injured, even if just for a bag of Doritos's. Funny how you took think Ave Ventura will be next one... Judging from his previous posts, I'm not sure Dan is betting on Ventura to "be the next one," but rather he is betting against your "ability" to predi...

Re: Jose Fernandez Expected to Go on DL; MRI Scheduled

On a positive note, One pitcher that appears to be at far less risk than other young ones is Ventura from the Royals. Many reasons, but the Royals got him young (I beleive 17), he's approaching 500 Pro innings spread across 5 pro seasons and has never even had a sore arm. Plus he is a fanatic with ...

Re: Jose Fernandez Expected to Go on DL; MRI Scheduled

Pretty sure the slider info and most of the hypotheses drawn re the cause of tjs is from a 2002 study. That's definitely not "fresh new data." I've seen pitch type, pitch count, innings pitched, mechanics, preparation, etc as possible causes. Still nobody (except Outlaw) can predict or pinpoint an e...

Re: Jose Fernandez Expected to Go on DL; MRI Scheduled

Ok Mike, pick three pitchers that will have Tommy John this year. It's predictable, right? I could give you 10 without even looking, the only question, as I said is when.. 4 weeks ago I when I was looking at data and actually put a list together, and I know it's after the fact, but Fernandez was hi...

Re: New FAAB Has % Owned, Pinned Free Agents

FAAB results will now be processed at 10:10 pm ET each Sunday as we moved up the time slightly. It takes only a couple of seconds to run FAAB for each league, but we have hundreds of leagues and so you might see some final FAAB results on your team pages before others have been finished. But all sh...

ERA under 3 and striking out over a batter per inning coming into tonight's game. Just terrible and definitely worthy of a new thread. You should drop him.

Re: New FAAB Has % Owned, Pinned Free Agents

Firefox has been extreme lag for me as well. I get the freezes when scrolling that Glenn referred to earlier. The only browser that gives me any hope is Google Chrome. I was given the same promise as Glenn that this would be ready for the season and be the best available. It's clearly not. This prom...

Re: And the hits just keep on coming....

< Steroids in the game. > injuries this season. Coincidence? Probably some truth to that, plus for those who did do the PEDS, they can be rest assured they damaged parts of their bodies, like Tendons, certain muscles, ligaments, Hamstrings. Then you got the ones who still use, mainly in the off sea...

Re: New FAAB Has % Owned, Pinned Free Agents

I have been playing around with this the past two evenings. Yesterday I continued using Firefox and I noticed it was much quicker than it has been on Sundays. I did not get any freezes, which I was getting with ever drag/drop or transaction I made on Sundays past. Could the delay on Sundays be due t...

Re: New FAAB Has % Owned, Pinned Free Agents

Ken, it's Internet Explorer 7 that is causing the problem. Download Firefox or Google Chrome (both are free) or even upgrade your Internet Explorer browseer and you will have no problems. Use Google Chrome as your browser and try it then. I trust you won't have any problems. In fact, for everything...

Re: And the hits just keep on coming....

Add roster spots and you can forget about picking up a backup closer, starter, or corner infielder... they will mostly all be on rosters already and if they aren't, the lack of available decent players in FAAB will cause bids to be even more ridiculous than they are now. Agree with this. People wil...

Re: FAAB Fixed or Fiction

As one of the biggest whiners about the old FAAB (and soon to be new if you want to stop reading now), I've held off from responding so that I could give this new setup a second run this week. I've come to agree with pretty much all in this thread. It sucks. We waited an entire season for this and w...

Re: Live Scoring...

I figured the live scoring problem out.. For some reason it was only doing it on one of my teams and it was only after I had filtered my FAAB to only show the last 7 days. I'm not sure why FAAB and live scoring would be tied to each other, especially since the stats in FAAB don't update, however tha...

Live Scoring...

Am I the only person whose live scoring is currently showing only this week's statistics? If not, is it just a view I have set up and don't know about? How do i fix it? Thanks!

Re: Last Minute Taxes

Reporting for tax purposes is not clear-cut. From reading the tax rules as a business and financial guy (but not an accountant), there are two options that seem to fit best - business income and hobby income. Which you can use are further defined in the tax rules based on fitting or not fitting cer...

Re: Last Minute Taxes

It is different. Poker is played in sessions. The game isn't over until you end the session. That's why online players must keep a log of their sessions. You still have to report the losing sessions on schedule A if you're an amateur player.

Re: Last Minute Taxes

You can't net ANY hobby income. The income is reported as "other income." The losses, to the extent of the income, are reported below the line on schedule A as an itemized deduction. There is a huge difference for some taxpayers between above and below the line. You can't just net the losses against...

Re: What's that brown stuff on you?

Maybe they can set up some type of TSA checkpoint before going on the field for each half inning to check for cheating substances....weigh each bat, etc. Nah, but they could issue suspensions for using substances whether PEDS or shit wax. They'll never issue suspensions in New York for rubbing shit...

Re: Last Minute Taxes

This is my understanding... Fantasy sports is a hobby for most of us and is considered by the IRS as a "Passive" rather than an "Active" activity. As such we can deduct any of our expenses involved such as entry fees and travel costs against "winnings". However the expenses/losses involved in this ...

Ryan Braun, you just can't win with me. When you are doing poorly, I can't help but think..."see what happens when you get off the juice?" Re: What Technical Improvements Would You Like To See?

It's not a huge change. If you drafted and held bryant on your roster for an extended period of time, you should be allowed to use him if you have a slot open. Additionally, I would argue that this change can actually help those that don't have a lot of time or access 24/7 to lineups. Take for examp...
