Who has decided to enter the NFBC and where?

This is a good way to start the work week as Rick Tiegs of Wyoming has taken the plunge and will compete in the NL Auction League in Las Vegas. I think with a little push, Rick will also be signing up for the NFBC draft the next day. Welcome aboard Rick as our first Wyoming participant and best of l...

Who has decided to enter the NFBC and where?

Ken, you keep pushing for Orlando and we'll see what we can do. As I told you earlier, finding an accommodating hotel or convention center that doesn't force us to charge you guys room, board and food is the key. I'm not sure there is such a place in Orlando in the middle of March. But we'll look, o...

Join Me In Chicago at Symposium

If anyone from the NFBC is going to be in Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 21 for Ron Shandler's First Pitch Forum, let me know. I plan on being there for the noon to 3 p.m. forum and may have time for a beer or three before heading home. I might even join a panel discussion if I'm nice to Ron. It's at the...

I didn't think it was possible for anyone north of me to enter the NFBC, but I've been proven wrong again. Let's give a hearty Canadian air blast welcome to Scott Stauffer of Duluth, Minnesota, who is leaving the cold in March to join us in Las Vegas. Welcome aboard Scott and please leave Duluth fou...

I really like the interest we're getting for New York and I'll be surprised if we don't fill that one up when all is said and done. Lots of e-mail questions and calls this week about the Javits Center. That being said, let's welcome our latest NFBC participant to New York, Brom Keifetz of New York C...

I think we'll still have auction leagues in each city, but I certainly understand why everyone wants to go for the big prize. The Auction Leagues were added because we know how many people play that way and they were an added bonus to what should be a fun, fun weekend. We'll get there once spring tr...

Free Agent Problems - remember Halladay?

I will chime in on that because I saw what was happening last year and called to give my two cents of advice, stating that I hoped that move wouldn't be allowed. It would have thrown off the integrity of the whole high stakes contest and that would have hurt everyone. The WCOFB made the right call a...

I don't think anyone is wrong because there isn't a wrong way to play. The six-man reserve does give you flexibility on a weekly basis and allows you to draft minor-leaguers who may become impact players starting in July. Since we're trying to appeal to the masses, making weekly starting lineup chan...

The celebrities are coming out to play now as Donn Johnson of Atlanta has signed up for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. Greg -Important Point Brought out in Mock Draft!

You are correct and we'll address that series as we get closer to the draft. Obviously you'll have to have your lineup in place before those games are held and then our first free agent acquisition period will take place after that. There's always a hurdle in the road, right? We'll get it all figure...

Greg -Important Point Brought out in Mock Draft!

That is a good point and I'll address it now. In the NFBC draft, we are going 29 rounds and you don't actually have to fill your 23 starting roster spots during the first 23 rounds. In other words, if you want to draft 8 outfielders during your first 23 picks and want to fill your second catcher in ...

Dominic, the answer remains no to replacing guys during the week even if they go on the DL. It's the breaks of the game and losing stats from a starting player for a couple of days is just the way it goes. That's obviously very common in many fantasy leagues and everyone will have to deal with the s...

Very interesting results. Man, just looking at mock draft results gets my blood flowing and I can't even compete in this. Daily transactions may be in the future, but for now if a guy goes on the DL on Tuesday or Wednesday, he remains in your lineup until the Monday the following week. You change your active roster once a week. Here's a key: Don't draft any guys who will ever get hurt!
