Re: MLB Fans Lockout Date - 01/15/2022
I get the notion about no urgency since it isn't costing either side money (at least not directly), but there are two things going under the radar. Once the lockout was enforced, the legal Pandora's Box was opened. The MLBPA has some decisions on how they want to proceed, with one side suing the oth...

Re: 2021 GTD NFBC Auction- Tuesday Feb 23, 7 PM EST!(2 spots left)
I've always passed since I do so much other NFBC stuff, but since I'm not doing nearly as much, I'd be happy to play if there's still a spot so long as everyone agrees to go easy on the league newbie.

Re: Opening Day pushed?
The Athletic's Evan Drellich wrote yesterday that he thinks the 2021 MLB season will start on time. We'll see if that's the case, but so far the owners appear ready to start spring training on time: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/no-delays-expected-for-start-of-spring-training-2021-season.h...

Re: XFL Hosts 1982 Retro Draft - Interesting Concept
I didn't set the eligibility so I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was the default from mlb.com, where we got the stats. It was decided everyone would be eligible at just one spot, keeping in mind the purpose was as much 12 guys getting together for a few hours as it was the draft itself. We did it i...

Re: XFL Hosts 1982 Retro Draft - Interesting Concept
No, not yet. No one tried to exploit that, though it could have been more a function of the particular pool than not thinking to conjure a plan. Most of the top relievers of the era tossed a lot more innings than nowadays, so even those focusing less on W/K totaled over 1000. Most had around 1500-17...

Re: XFL Hosts 1982 Retro Draft - Interesting Concept
We're doing 1990 Monday night, starting at either 7 or 8 PM ET. The draft tracker/standings/roster sheet is publicly viewable https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u95cv6Q_JchaiQ4vD8ofw55_WSiJbUvXO4l9m2OhXkQ/edit?usp=sharing I'll verify the time when we firm it up. Re: Being Civil with the V Word
Found this in a column from some clown, I hear he also does podcasts too Value is the most misused term in fantasy baseball, well, all fantasy sports. Value is past tense. We don't know a player's value until after the season. Yet, many will contend a good draft or auction is all about getting value...

So sorry to see, Stan will be missed. Adding to his computer lore, I used to get a yearly phone call, asking for help subscribing to my site. I'd talk him through the process, it usually took five to ten minutes. We'd then talk another hour about the upcoming season, after which he'd always joke, "N...

Positions Eligibility in Baseball10s

Should a player move to another primary position before the start of the season, SportsHub Games Network, Inc. reserves th...

Re: Rules for 2020
Week 17 in the NFL and the last week or two of the MLB is not an apples to apples comparison. Excluding Week 17 was around long before high stakes since most fantasy football leagues are head to head and it made sense not to decide a league championship on ONE WEEK where odd things happen. The high ...

Re: Rules for 2020
Todd, all those regular season stats, no matter the inning are there for everybody. Whatever happens, happens. We have no control over whether a game is rained out or goes 15 innings. In either one of those cases, whatever statistics are tallied. For game 163, whether it is called a regular season ...

Re: Rules for 2020
Dan, it's not a playoff game. The regular season determines who makes the playoffs. If after 162 games, teams are tied, another regular season game is needed to determine who makes the playoffs. Continuing to call is a playoff game because you want to does not make it as such. Game 163 is a regular...

Extra innings are in our hands - don't count them. Rain shortened games are akin to a postponement not made up. The extra game(s) are a consequence of the regular season.
Not convinced... yet.

Re: Rules for 2020
Honest question, not trying to troll. I'm on the fence and am looking for a reason to be swayed either way. What's the difference between extra innings and the extra game(s)? What isn't there a push to exclude stats in extra innings? I'm not a gambler, but I suspect if you bet the under on an 8.5 li...

Re: Rules for 2020
Given I'm ambivalent to the extended season rule, something I don't like is having the chance to reset the lineup on Monday. Personally, I feel if the games count, everyone's Week 26 lineup should be locked in for the extra games.

FWIW, while some will dismiss this because "It's not the NFBC Main", the overall champion of the TGFBI (a 315 team competition among the fantasy baseball industry hosted by Greg/Tom/Darik) took Trea Turner 6th overall.
